The Induction and Characterization of a Potential Rough‐Type Brucella Vaccine Candidate Strain RA343, and Its Safety, Protective Efficacy in Mouse and Guinea Pig Models

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Brucellosis is a zoonotic disease caused by Brucella spp. which seriously jeopardize the health and safety of animals and human beings. In this study, a genetically stable Brucella rough RA343 strain was obtained by cross‐induction. The virulence and protective efficacy of RA343 were subsequently assessed. Overall, the RA343 strain is a promising novel

Dietary supplement of sodium butyrate improves the growth performance and intestinal health by targeting Wnt/β‐catenin signaling pathway in rabbits

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Dietary supplement of sodium butyrate, may relate to regulating intestinal health and thus the growth performance and meat quality of rabbits by regulating the continuous process of promoting the periodic cycle of cecal epithelial cells. Abstract Supplementation of sodium butyrate (SB) has been proved to be beneficial for improving the growth ...

Association of Synovial Innate Immune Exhaustion With Worse Pain in Knee Osteoarthritis

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective Uncontrolled pain remains a major clinical challenge in the management of knee osteoarthritis (OA), the most common disabling joint disease. Worse pain is associated with synovial innate immune cell infiltration (synovitis), but the role of innate immune‐regulatory cells in pain is unknown. Our objective was to identify synovial innate immune

Gout and NLRP3 inflammasome biology

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, Accepted Article.
This review describes the three broad stages of acute inflammation in the context of gout: initiation, leucocyte mobilisation, and self‐resolution. A typical case of a gout flare is presented. The role of the NLRP3 inflammasome in acute monosodium urate crystal‐induced inflammation is reviewed in detail.
