The most ancient invaders are regarded as indigenous species. The glacial relicts invaded the Caspian 1–1.5 million years BP. There are also “Atlantic species” and those of fresh-water origin.

2004The Caspian Sea is the world’s largest lake in area. Hence it is possible to assume, that it should have the largest biodiversity as well. The larger area of lake, the large number of plants and animals species lives in it. In our opinion this correlation with the area is not direct but indirect.
