VLEO Satellite Development and Remote Sensing: A Multidomain Review of Engineering, Commercial, and Regulatory Solutions

open access: yesAerospace
Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO) satellites, operating at altitudes below 450 km, provide tremendous potential in the domain of remote sensing. Their proximity to Earth offers high resolution, low latency, and rapid revisit rates, allowing continuous ...

Modeling of voltaic pile surface formation using current-carrying cassini ovals

open access: yesEngineering Science and Technology, an International Journal, 2019
In this paper, the possibility of increasing the surface of an electric discharge in ignition devices of a working mixture of internal combustion engines is analyzed.

Effect of core--mantle and tidal torques on Mercury's spin axis orientation

open access: yes, 2013
The rotational evolution of Mercury's mantle and its core under conservative and dissipative torques is important for understanding the planet's spin state.

Structure of Titan's mid-range magnetic tail: Cassini magnetometer observations during the T9 flyby [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We analyze the magnetic structure of Titan's mid-range magnetic tail (5-6 Titan radii downstream from the moon) during Cassini's T9 flyby. Cassini magnetometer (MAG) measurements reveal a well-defined, induced magnetic tail consisting of two lobes and a ...

Cassini observations of the thermal plasma in the vicinity of Saturn's main rings and the F and G rings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The ion mass spectrometer on Cassini detected enhanced ion flux near Saturn's main rings that is consistent with the presence of atomic and molecular oxygen ions in the thermal plasma.

Cassini UVIS Observations of the Io Plasma Torus. IV. Modeling Temporal and Azimuthal Variability

open access: yes, 2007
In this fourth paper in a series, we present a model of the remarkable temporal and azimuthal variability of the Io plasma torus observed during the Cassini encounter with Jupiter.

Liquid filled canyons on Titan [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In May 2013 the Cassini RADAR altimeter observed channels in Vid Flumina, a drainage network connected to Titan’s second largest hydrocarbon sea, Ligeia Mare. Analysis of these altimeter echoes shows that the channels are located in deep (up to ~570 m),

Response of an Infant With Presumed Multiple Acyl‐CoA Dehydrogenase Deficiency (MADD) to Ketone Supplementation

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Multiple Acyl‐CoA Dehydrogenase Deficiency (MADD) is an autosomal recessive inborn error of metabolism caused by biallelic pathogenic variants in one of three known genes: ETFA, ETFB, and ETFDH. It can cause multisystem dysfunction, including cardiomyopathy in severe cases.

Previously undocumented regional variability in crab‐eating macaque skull sexual dimorphism and its implications for biological and morphometric studies

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract In a large sample of adult crab‐eating macaques, we quantified sexual dimorphism in size, shape, and covariance across the whole skull and among anatomical regions of the cranium and mandible. All regions showed significant mean sex differences, but the magnitude of size and shape dimorphism varied substantially.
