Hair Casts

Dermatologica, 2009
Peripilar hair casts are a pathological occurrence which is probably greater than the few reports seem to suggest. In 2 patients the authors have found fine, whitish nodular accretions of epithelial cells and keratinous debris surrounding the hair shafts of the scalp over a length of 3–7 mm located at various distances from the base of the hair along ...

Hair Casts

International Journal of Dermatology, 1988
A case of hair casts in an 8-year-old girl is described. The disorder is rare, the first description dating back to 1897 with a total of only 31 cases reported in the literature since then. Cast joining of cast iron to aluminium casting matrix

Materials Science and Technology, 2011
The present study focused on reinforcing Al–Si–Cu alloy with a cast iron insert and using Zn– xAl–3Si–0·5Mg (wt-) intermediate alloys by the cast joining technique to take advantage of lightness and stiffness of the hybrid structure. The experimental set-up consisted of coating the insert using hot dipping method followed by immersing the coated ...

Casting and Casting Processes

SSRN Electronic Journal, 2015
The casting process was discovered probably around 3500 BC in Mesopotamia. Casting is unique manufacturing processes for a variety of reasons. Perhaps the most obvious is the array of molding and casting processes available that are capable of producing complex components in any metal, ranging in weight from less than an ounce to single parts weighing ...

Esophageal Cast

Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology, 1985
We report a case of esophageal cast, a rare entity, and a review of the literature. We also theorize about the possible mechanism of injury due to vomiting, which was common in most previously reported patients. We assume a close association may occur between the Mallory-Weiss syndrome and production of an esophageal cast.

Casting shrinkage of thin-walled castings

Journal of Dentistry, 1995
The casting shrinkage of thin-walled castings was measured using a tungsten die method. The thickness and the surface area of the casting were simulated to those of either partial veneer crowns or complete denture frameworks. Gold alloys were cast at two different pressures (0.35 and 0.49 MPa) and the shrinkage measurement was made at different ...

Effect of Casting Material on the Cast Pressure After Sequential Cast Splitting

Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics, 2017
Background: Circumferential casting is a vital component of nonoperative fracture management. These casts are commonly valved to release pressure and decrease the risk of complications from swelling. However, little information exists regarding the effect of different casting supplies on the pressure within the cast.
