Urethane casting techniques

Strain, 1973
The preparation of a liquid rubber formulation for both cold and hot casting of photoelastic models is explained. Membranes and thin–walled structural models are amongst the examples considered qualitatively. Suggestions are made for the development of approximate but rapid methods of analysis.

Modified hygroscopic gold casting technique

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1975
A modified hygrosopic gold casting technique has been described. It utilizes a dual-wax pattern with controlled amounts of water added to the setting investment to better influence both the location and amount of investment expansion. This technique has been used since 1970 with excellent clinical results.

Pulsating electromagnetic casting technique for slab casting

International Journal of Cast Metals Research, 2009
AbstractTo improve the surface quality of cast slabs in the steelmaking process, the pulsating electromagnetic casting (EMC) technique was developed and assessed using a slab casting bench scale test. Numerical simulation of the magnetohydrodynamic field and numerical simulation of the toughness of the mould were also conducted for the slab casting ...

Splinting and Casting Techniques

2017
The initial treatment of many orthopedic injuries relies upon casting and splinting of the affected limb to mitigate pain, maintain reduction, and prevent further damage to soft tissues. However, these tools are not without their associated caveats. A poorly applied splint can cause further injury to the patient including pressure sores and thermal ...
