Creep Properties and Deformation Mechanism of Additively Manufactured NiAl‐CrMo Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additively manufactured NiAl‐CrMo composites contain numerous interfaces and cell boundaries that control their creep response. At 700°C under high applied stress, creep is dominated by dislocation‐controlled power‐law mechanisms. At 800°C–900°C and lower stresses, creep is primarily diffusion‐controlled along cell boundaries.

Chemistry and physical properties of estolides

open access: yesGrasas y Aceites, 2011
Estolides are a developing class of natural and synthetic compounds that have been synthesized from hydroxy oils like castor and lesquerella or by the condensation of fatty acids across the olefin of a second fatty acid.

Recycling of NiTi Shape Memory Alloys: Fundamental and Technological Aspects of a Vacuum Induction Melting Processing Route

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The present study investigates recycling of NiTi shape memory alloys via vacuum induction melting. An ingot was synthesized from elemental Ni and Ti and subjected to three subsequent remelting cycles. Remelting increases process durations and impurity levels and adversely affects microstructures and functional properties.

Soft Mechanical‐Electrical Logic Using Liquid Metal‐Filled 3D‐Printed Architectures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We present 3D‐printed soft mechanical–electrical logic elements that use liquid metal–filled silicone tubes actuated by thermoplastic polyurethane/polylactic acid (TPU/PLA) architectures to produce Boolean operations. Complementary normally open and normally closed unit cells perform repeatable binary transitions and can be combined into more complex ...

Combining Ability, Heritability, and Heterosis for Seed Weight and Oil Content Traits of Castor Bean (Ricinus communis L.)

open access: yesAgronomy
Hybridization is an important evolutionary force, and heterosis describes the phenomenon where hybrids exhibit superior traits compared to their parents.

Enhanced Strength and Corrosion Resistance of Ti‐13Nb‐12Ta‐10Zr‐4Sn Alloy by Aging Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work systematically investigates the effect of aging treatment on mechanical properties and corrosion behavior of vacuum arc‐melted Ti‐13Nb‐12Ta‐10Zr‐4Sn alloy. Owing to the increased α″ martensite, strength and corrosion resistance were significantly enhanced by aging treatment.

Propriétés et utilisation de l’huile de ricin

open access: yesOléagineux, Corps gras, Lipides, 2012
Castor and its derived oil, the so-called ‘‘castor oil’’, are known from the ancient times, when the oil was used for cosmectics, or as a laxative, or as a fuel in lamps.

General and specific combining ability for quantitative characters in castor (Ricinus communis L.)

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Plant Breeding, 2017
The experimental material consisted of ten monoecious lines, their 45 F1S developed through diallel mating excluding reciprocals, which was evaluated in Randomized Complete Block Design with three replications.

Direct Metal Deposition of Graphene–Ti28Nb35.4Zr Matrix Composites With Enhanced Mechanical, Corrosion, and Biocompatibility Properties for Bone Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Graphene nanoplatelet (0.1 wt.%) reinforcement significantly enhances the performance of β Ti‐28Nb‐35.4Zr alloy. Grain refinement, reduced water contact angle, and improved surface characteristics promote osteoblast adhesion and complete surface coverage after 7 days.

Charaxes castor subsp. castor Cramer 1775

open access: yes, 2016
131. Charaxes castor castor (Cramer, 1775) WL: 50mm. C. castor flies in forests, degraded forest and Guinea savanna. Two subspecies occur along the African savanna region: nominate C. c. castor from Senegal to Nigeria and across to western Kenya and northwestern Tanzania; and C. c. flavofasciatus from eastern Kenya to South Africa. Subspecies C.
