Modified Castor Oil Based Polyurethane Elastomers for One-Shot Process

Polymer-Plastics Technology and Engineering, 1996
Abstract Studies have been carried out on polyurethane elastomers based on modified castor oil in combination with different molecular weights of polyethylene glycol and polymeric methylene diphenyl-4,4′-diisocyanate (PMDI). The resulting polymers were cast into molds and the moldings were characterized by scanning electron microscopy and ...

Castor oil modified by epoxidation, transesterification, and acrylation processes: Spectroscopic characteristics

International Journal of Polymer Analysis and Characterization, 2017
ABSTRACTIn the present study, castor oil (CO) was modified by epoxidation, transesterification, and acrylation processes. In situ epoxidation method was used to prepare epoxidized castor oil (ECO) in acetic acid with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of Seralite SRC-120 catalyst.

Polyurethane adhesive system from castor oil modified by a transesterification reaction

Journal of Elastomers and Plastics, 2012
This study reports the preparation of polyurethane adhesives using polyols obtained from castor oil modified by a transesterification reaction with pentaerythritol. The physical properties of the polyols such as hydroxyl value have been determined and the infrared (IR) spectroscopic analysis of the polyols is reported.

Polyurethane–Polystyrene Simultaneous Interpenetrating Networks from Modified Castor Oil

Journal of Elastomers and Plastics, 2010
A series of simultaneous interpenetrating polymer networks (SINs) based on pentaerythritol modified castor oil polyurethane and polystyrene were studied. Miscibility, phase continuity and phase separation are studied by dynamic mechanical thermal analysis (DMTA).

Experimental investigation on the tribological properties of modified carbon nanotubes as the additive in castor oil

Industrial Lubrication and Tribology, 2018
Purpose This paper aims to modify carbon nanotubes with oleic acid, and to study the tribological properties of castor oil with modified carbon nanotubes additives. The proper additives are sought for the future engineering application of castor oil.

Chemically Modified Castor Oil for Softening of Leather– A Novel Approach

Journal of the American Leather Chemists Association, 2021
Fatliquoring is an important step of post tanning process of leathermanufacturing where incorporation of self-emulsified oil (lubricant)makes the leather soft. There are several methods which introducepolarity into oil and provide the path where reactive species ofmodified oil can interact with water which leads to form a fatliquor. The aim of this work

Isocyanate‐modified dehydrated castor oil

Journal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, 1979
AbstractEsters of dehydrated castor oil fatty acids with polyhydric alcohols like ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, glycerol, pentaerythritol and sorbitol have been prepared. The esters, having hydroxyl value ranging from 78.5 to 167, were reacted with toluene diisocyanate. The scratch hardness and other film properties of the resulting urethanes have

Synthesis and characterization of castor‐oil‐modified hyperbranched polyurethanes

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2009
AbstractA series of castor‐oil‐modified hyperbranched polyurethanes were synthesized via an A2 + B3 approach based on castor oil, macroglycol poly(ϵ‐caprolactone)diol or poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG), and diphenyl methane diisocyanate, with or without a chain extender.
