Cast chromium alloy surgical splints

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1976
A cast chromium alloy surgical splint can be fabricated in less than 6 hours. This splint has the advantages of being well fitted, smooth, rigid, and less bulky than prefabricated splints. Other metals can be utilized in a similar manner to fabricate cast surgical splints.

Custom-cast splints for oral surgical procedures

Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, 1974
Abstract Laboratory techniques are presented for the construction of custom-cast labial and lingual splints. These techniques reduce construction time sufficiently to allow their use in emergency situations as well as more elective procedures.

Cast vs. wrought cobalt‐chromium surgical implant alloys

Journal of Biomedical Materials Research, 1975
AbstractThe measured tensile and fatigue strengths of wrought and heat‐treated cobalt chromium‐molybdenum‐carbon alloys such as HS21 were found to be more than twice those of as cast alloys of the same composition. The resistance of wrought HS21 to crevice corrosion at metal‐Teflon contacts in isotonic salt solution at 37°C was found to be considerably

Water-resistant casting: non-surgically managed fractures

British Journal of Healthcare Assistants, 2010
While synthetic casts used to immobilize fractures are water-repellent, conventional cast liners are not. Accordingly, patients are instructed to cover casts while washing and showering, and are advised not to swim or bath. Healthcare assistants (HCAs) should be aware of water-resistant casts because the expanding scope of the role may lead to contact

An adjustable, cast based, fully restrictive surgical guide

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 2015
The 3D Click Guide is a fully restrictive cast-based surgical guide for the placement of dental implants. This in-office system consists of prefabricated parts that are assembled onto a carrier. The 3-dimensional data are derived from a dental cast in combination with a periapical radiograph or cone-beam computed tomography data.

Fabrication of a cast-based implant surgical guide using guide sleeves

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 2011
A unique method for fabricating cast-based surgical guides is presented. A proposed position and mesiodistal angulation of the implant are verified with periapical radiography and registered with a commercially available guide sleeve. The sleeve is attached to a surgical guide made of light-polymerized acrylic resin. The surgical guide can be used in a

Effectiveness of a Low Fidelity Cast Removal Module in Orthopaedic Surgical Simulation

Journal of Surgical Education, 2018
The purpose of this study is to determine if an educational model during a surgical skills laboratory results in a significant reduction in cast saw blade temperatures generated during cast removal. As part of an orthopedic resident surgical skills laboratory an Institutional Review Board-approved study was performed.

[Surgical removal of cast calculi using extensive longitudinal nephrotomy].

Zeitschrift fur Urologie und Nephrologie, 1977
The results of the operative treatment of 21 large longitudinal nephrotomies on account of the existence of cast calculi of the renal calyx are reported and discussed. In complete cast calculi with participation of the whole renal pelvis and all renal calyces this operation method leads to satisfactory results.
