We report a case of esophageal cast, a rare entity, and a review of the literature. We also theorize about the possible mechanism of injury due to vomiting, which was common in most previously reported patients. We assume a close association may occur between the Mallory-Weiss syndrome and production of an esophageal cast.

Hair casts are small cylindrical structures, encircling individual scalp hairs but easily movable along the involved hair shafts. This hair disorder of unknown pathogenesis is only rarely mentioned in the dermatologic literature. We report the case of a 5-year-old girl, who has been treated during 2 years for pediculosis capitis.

Effect of phenanthrene on the physicochemical properties of earthworm casts in soil.
Ecotoxicology and Environmental Safety, 2019Earthworms have been widely studied as bioindicators of soil health for their important role in sustaining soil structure and functions. Many soil contaminants such as phenanthrene have been confirmed to exert adverse effects on earthworms' growth ...

Although the role of dental casting alloys has changed in recent years with the development of improved all-ceramic materials and resin-based composites, alloys will likely continue to be critical assets in the treatment of missing and severely damaged teeth. Alloy shave physical, chemical, and biologic properties that exceed other classes of materials.

This chapter explores various advanced casting techniques. One such technique is investment casting, a process that came about as a result of the demand for complex geometry components in high-temperature capability materials in the first half of the twentieth century for use in aircraft engines.

The literature on hair casts suggests they are rare even though Kligman intimated in 1957 that in some scalp diseases they might well be common. In this study, casts have been looked for in a group of orthokeratotic and parakeratotic scalp conditions. Hair casts are indeed common in psoriasis, pityriasis amiantacea, pityriasis capitis and seborrhoeic ...
