Prostaglandin catabolizing enzymes

Prostaglandins & Other Lipid Mediators, 2002
The primary catabolic pathway of prostaglandins and related eicosanoids is initiated by the oxidation of 15(S)-hydroxyl group catalyzed by NAD+-dependent 15-hydroxyprostaglandin dehydrogenase (15-PGDH) followed by the reduction of delta13 double bond catalyzed by NADPH/NADH dependent delta13-15-ketoprostaglandin reductase (13-PGR).

Catabolic proinflammatory cytokines

Current Opinion in Clinical Nutrition and Metabolic Care, 1998
Catabolic proinflammatory cytokines play a key role in mediating biochemical changes associated with many pathophysiological states. The present review emphasizes the role of this type of cytokine in inflammation and cachexia. Additionally, it reviews the role of one of these mediators in the induction of insulin resistance by dealing with some of the ...

Bacterial catabolic transposons

Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, 1999
The introduction of foreign organic hydrocarbons into the environment in recent years, as in the widespread use of antibiotics, has resulted in the evolution of novel adaptive mechanisms by bacteria for the biodegradation of the organic pollutants. Plasmids have been implicated in the catabolism of many of these complex xenobiotics. The catabolic genes

Catabolism of polyamines

Amino Acids, 2004
Owing to the establishment of cells and transgenic animals which either lack or over-express acetylCoA:spermidine N(1)-acetyltransferase a major progress was made in our understanding of the role of polyamine acetylation. Cloning of polyamine oxidases of mammalian cell origin revealed the existence of several enzymes with different substrate and ...

Catabolism of canine apolipoprotein A-I: purification, catabolic rate, organs of catabolism, and the liver subcellular catabolic site.

The Journal of laboratory and clinical medicine, 1976
The catabolic site(s) of plasma lipoproteins and apolipoproteins has not been established. We have purified one of the major apolipoproteins and explored its catabolic rate and its site of catabolism. Apolipoprotein (Apo) A-1 was purified by column chromatography of canine high-density lipoprotein (HDL) subfraction, HDL3, which was totally delipidated;
