Double cyclic variations in orbital period of the eclipsing cataclysmic variable EX Dra

, 2017
EX Dra is a long-period eclipsing dwarf nova with ∼2–3$\sim2\mbox{--}3$ mag amplitude outbursts. This star has been monitored photometrically from November, 2009 to March, 2016 and 29 new mid-eclipse times were obtained.

Optical Properties of Cataclysmic Variable Stars

1990
An overview is given of the optical behavior of cataclysmic variables, including the various types, the canonical model of these close binary systems, the causes of eruptions, short-term variations, and orbital periods, and correlations of light curve parameters with physical properties.

Cataclysmic Variables as Interacting Binary Stars

1985
The periodical literature on cataclysmic variables (CVs) and closely related topics has grown rapidly in recent years. In the Astrophysical Journal alone, the number of papers published on this subject in 1982 was about 80, the rate having doubled in three years. The other major journals taken together yield a similar annual total.

Spectroscopy and Spectrophotometry of Cataclysmic Variable Stars

1981
Distances and luminosities of individual cataclysmic variable stars (as opposed to statistical properties of the group as a whole) can best be acquired by studying the secondary stars of these short-period binary systems. Since the secondary stars are of late spectral type, observations in the near infrared are especially useful.

Visible and Infrared Studies of Cataclysmic Variable Stars

1983
The purpose of this Thesis is to investigate the infrared properties of Cataclysmic Variable Stars, in particular, to develop the techniques needed to study the contributions to the infrared light of the red dwarf and the accretion disc around its white dwarf companion. A particular requirement of these techniques is that they do not rely on a model of

Observations of Cataclysmic Variable and Double Degenerate Stars

2001
In this chapter I will discuss cataclysmic variable stars and close pairs of white dwarfs or “double degenerates”. These stars are connected through their evolution, but in this case also because they are personal interests of mine. The detailed topics that I discuss are also personal choices and I make no attempt to be comprehensive in my coverage ...
