A Radial Velocity Study of CTCV J1300-3052 [PDF]
We present time-resolved spectroscopy of the eclipsing, short period cataclysmic variable CTCV J1300-3052. Using absorption features from the secondary star, we determine the radial velocity semi-amplitude of the secondary star to be K2 = 378 \pm 6 km/s,

The purpose of this study was to develop a period analysis algorithm for detecting new variable stars in the time-series data observed by charge coupled device (CCD). We used the data from a variable star monitoring program of the CBNUO.

QU Carinae: Supernova Ia in the making? [PDF]
Variable NaI absorption lines have been reported in a number of type Ia supernovae (SNeIa). The presence of this circumstellar material suggests that cataclysmic variables (CVs) with a giant donor star may be the progenitors of these SNeIa (Patat et al ...

Disc–magnetosphere interactions in cataclysmic variable stars [PDF]
AbstractI review, from an observational perspective, the interactions of accretion discs with magnetic fields in cataclysmic variable stars. I start with systems where the accretion flows via a stream, and discuss the circumstances in which the stream forms into an accretion disc, pointing to stars which are close to this transition.

The winds in cataclysmic variable stars [PDF]
Ultraviolet spectrophotometry of two dwarf novae, CN Ori and RX And, at various phases of their outburst cycles, confirms that the far UV flux increases dramatically about 1–2 days after the optical outburst begins. At this time the UV spectral line profiles indicate the presence of a high velocity wind.

Investigation of the new cataclysmic variable 1RXS J180834.7+101041
We present the results of our photometric and spectroscopic studies of the new eclipsing cataclysmic variable star 1RXS J180834.7+101041. Its spectrum exhibits double-peaked hydrogen and helium emission lines.

The K-band spectrum of the Cataclysmic Variable RXJ 0502.8+1624 (Tau 4)
We present the K-band spectrum of the cataclysmic variable RXJ 0502.8+1624 (Tau 4). The spectrum shows a broad, smooth hump, with no absorption lines from the secondary star visible.

The stellar mass ratio of GK Persei [PDF]
We study the absorption lines present in the spectra of the long-period cataclysmic variable GK Per during its quiescent state, which are associated with the secondary star.
