ABSTRACT The disinheritance of a firstborn son accustomed to the privileges of exclusion has for centuries been a dramatic event for families, especially if the decision was taken by a woman, the son's own mother. Very few dared to do so, because it symbolised a break with the notion of virtuous, compassionate motherhood; it represented a failure to be

Combinatorics of three-Catalan numbers and some positivities [PDF]
We introduce the three-Catalan triangle, highlighting the three-Catalan numbers along with their recurrence relation and combinatorial interpretation, which allows us to establish their log-convexity. Additionally, we prove that the rows of the three-Catalan triangle form a log-concave sequence.

$d$-orthogonal polynomials, Fuss-Catalan matrices and lattice paths [PDF]
In this note, we show how to define certain Riordan arrays, that we call the Fuss-Catalan-Riordan arrays, by means of a special family of $d$-orthogonal polynomials. We relate the Fuss-Catalan Riordan arrays to the Fuss Catalan numbers, and to certain lattice paths.

Abstract Aeromobilities—socio‐technical systems that lock in dependence on fossil fuel‐based mobilities—contribute substantially to climate change and uneven geographies. They represent paradigmatic capitalism‐driven forms of metabolism, permeated by logics of efficiency and growth. While existing literature has examined resistance to airport expansion,
