Generalized compositions with a fixed number of parts [PDF]
We investigate compositions of a positive integer with a fixed number of parts, when there are several types of each natural number. These compositions produce new relationships among binomial coefficients, Catalan numbers, and numbers of the Catalan ...

Noncommutative Catalan Numbers [PDF]
The goal of this paper is to introduce and study noncommutative Catalan numbers $C_n$ which belong to the free Laurent polynomial algebra in $n$ generators. Our noncommutative numbers admit interesting (commutative and noncommutative) specializations, one of them related to Garsia-Haiman $(q,t)$-versions, another -- to solving noncommutative quadratic ...

Canonical characters on quasi-symmetric functions and bivariate Catalan numbers [PDF]
Every character on a graded connected Hopf algebra decomposes uniquely as a product of an even character and an odd character (Aguiar, Bergeron, and Sottile, math.CO/0310016).

A Mussel‐Inspired Bioadhesive Patch to Selectively Kill Glioblastoma Cells
An innovative mussel‐inspired bioadhesive patch has been developed for post‐surgical glioblastoma treatment. The patch, which adheres strongly in biological environments, releases a localized treatment. This treatment, acting via reactive oxygen species, shows specific toxicity to glioblastoma cells.
