Proofs of two conjectures involving sums of normalized Narayana numbers

open access: yesDemonstratio Mathematica
Narayana numbers are well-known and have many applications in the field of combinatorics. The Narayana numbers form a triangular array, where the sum of the nth row is the nth Catalan number.

Dietary Consumption of Type 2 Resistant Starch and d‐Fagomine Delays Progression of Metabolic Disturbances in Male Rats on High‐Fat Diet

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, EarlyView.
This study compared the preventive effects of dietary resistant starch (RS2) from maize and d‐fagomine (FG) from buckwheat on cardiometabolic risk factors in high‐fat (HF) diet‐fed rats. Wistar‐Kyoto rats (n = 11–12/group) received STD, HF, HF + RS, or HF + FG diets for 10 weeks.

Latitude‐specific responses of European birds' population growth rates to temperature and water availability

open access: yesOikos, EarlyView.
Climate limits distribution of species and shows considerable regional variability. However, studies relating climate variation to species population growth rates in different climatic zones while accounting for species' ecological traits are scarce.

Essential Oil Profiles of Lippia turbinata (Verbenaceae) from Argentina: Insights from a Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesChemistryOpen, EarlyView.
This study systematically reviews essential oil (EO) profiles of Lippia turbinata (Verbenaceae) populations from Argentina. A meta‐analysis reveals significant chemical variability and distinct chemotypes, primarily defined by limonene, carvone, β‐caryophyllene, and caryophyllene oxide.

Methodologies for investigating and fostering plant awareness

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Plant awareness research suffers from disparate methodologies and an overreliance on self‐reported items, limiting its development. The collection addresses these gaps by highlighting diverse methodologies, including psychology, ethnobotany, arts‐based research, and educational sciences.

Assessing alternative strategies to control almond red leaf blotch through the reduction of Polystigma amygdalinum inoculum in leaf litter

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Cultural practices offer effective RLB disease management strategies. Urea application or removal of almond leaf litter reduces the primary inoculum of Polystigma amygdalinum. Abstract Background Red leaf blotch (RLB), caused by Polystigma amygdalinum, is a major foliar disease of almond trees in Mediterranean and Middle Eastern regions.
