Multilingual Stance Detection: The Catalonia Independence Corpus [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Stance detection aims to determine the attitude of a given text with respect to a specific topic or claim. While stance detection has been fairly well researched in the last years, most the work has been focused on English. This is mainly due to the relative lack of annotated data in other languages.

Real‐Time Force Monitoring of Electrically Stimulated 3D‐Bioengineered Muscle Bioactuators Using Organic Sensors with Tunable Sensitivity

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
The integration of sensing elements in bioengineered actuators is key to obtain real‐time information about their performance and further control/automation. By coupling flexible organic field‐effect transistor to a skeletal muscle actuator we demonstrate the feasibility to record in real‐time its contractile behavior when stimulated by electrical ...

A Semiempirical Dynamical Model to Forecast the Propagation of Epidemics: The Case of the Sars-Cov-2 in Spain [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
A semiempirical model, based in the logistic map, has been succesfully applied to forecast important quantities along the several phases of the outbreak of the covid-19 for different countries. This paper shows how the model was calibrated and applied to perform predictions of people needing to be hospitalized, needs of ventilators, or the number of ...

The synchrotron laboratory of Catalonia [PDF]

open access: yesLe Journal de Physique IV, 1994
The project of a Synchrotron Laboratory in Barcelona is presented. Its feasibility was analized by a special committee created in July 1992 and was aproved by the Regional Government of Catalonia in February 1993 in its Research Plan for 1993-1996. Since then a Steering Committee and an Advisory Committee have been operating and the firsts steps have ...

A pan‐cheloniid turtle from the Middle Miocene of Portugal

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Currently, there is no information on the fossil record of Pan‐Cheloniidae from the Neogene of the Iberian Peninsula. A well‐preserved partial skeleton attributable to this lineage of turtles, from the Middle Miocene of Portugal, is presented here.

Constructing Catalonia

open access: yesCoolabah, 2009
Catalonia, in common with other nations, has long been concerned with the question of identity and difference. Its problematic relationship with Spain has led to an emphasis on differentiating itself from its larger neighbour (if we are to accept, as most Spaniards do not, that Catalonia is not Spain), a situation complicated by the loss of the Spanish

But how does it smell? An investigation of olfactory bulb size among living and fossil primates and other euarchontoglirans

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Analysis of cranial endocast data of 181 extant and 41 fossil species from Euarchontoglires shows that there was a reduction in olfactory bulb size in Crown Primates, but that there were also subsequent reductions in various other primate clades (Anthropoidea, Catarrhini, Platyrrhini, crown Cercopithecoidea, Hominoidea).

Sí o no, què penses? Catalonian Independence and Linguistic Identity on Social Media [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
Political identity is often manifested in language variation, but the relationship between the two is still relatively unexplored from a quantitative perspective.
