Copy Number Variation and Haplotype Analysis of 17q21.31 Reveals Increased Risk Associated with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy and Gene Expression Changes in Neuronal Cells

open access: yesMovement Disorders, EarlyView.
Abstract Background The 17q21.31 region with various structural forms characterized by the H1/H2 haplotypes and three large copy number variations (CNVs) represents the strongest risk locus in progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP). Objective To investigate the association between CNVs and structural forms on 17q.21.31 with the risk of PSP.

Vegetation structure derived from airborne laser scanning to assess species distribution and habitat suitability: The way forward

open access: yesDiversity and Distributions, Volume 29, Issue 1, Page 39-50, January 2023., 2023
Abstract Ecosystem structure, especially vertical vegetation structure, is one of the six essential biodiversity variable classes and is an important aspect of habitat heterogeneity, affecting species distributions and diversity by providing shelter, foraging, and nesting sites. Point clouds from airborne laser scanning (ALS) can be used to derive such

Light‐Activated Pharmacological Tools for Exploring the Cholinergic System

open access: yesMedicinal Research Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Cholinergic transmission plays a critical role in both the central and peripheral nervous systems, affecting processes such as learning, memory, and inflammation. Conventional cholinergic drugs generally suffer from poor selectivity and temporal precision, leading to undesired effects and limited therapeutic efficacy. Photopharmacology aims to

Molecular Tools to Study and Control Dopaminergic Neurotransmission With Light

open access: yesMedicinal Research Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Dopaminergic neurotransmission is involved in several important brain functions, such as motor control, learning, reward‐motivated behavior, and emotions. Dysfunctions of dopaminergic system may lead to the development of various neurological and psychiatric disorders, like Parkinson's disease, schizophrenia, depression, and addictions ...

Weathering the storm: Effect of climate change on acute stroke care and stroke rehabilitation

open access: yesPM&R, EarlyView.
Abstract Climate change has deleterious effects on stroke recovery, disproportionately affecting populations with increased stroke incidence. These effects start prior to the acute care hospitalization, precipitated by environmental etiologies and are sustained throughout the life course of stroke survivors.
