The quest for the materials genome— the properties of a material that define its functional properties—has started. This signifies a transition to a new era of materials research where large amounts of materials data become available. The expectation is that this will significantly speed up the discovery of new materials.

Homogeneous catalysts to solid catalysts
Current Opinion in Solid State and Materials Science, 1996Abstract Recent advances have been made in the transformation of homogeneous to solid catalysts. They include the use of metal complexes immobilized on organic and inorganic supports, solid acids and bases, redox molecular sieves as solid catalysts for liquid phase oxidations, zeolite-encapsulated metal complexes and supported liquid phase catalysts.

New Catalysts From Spent Catalysts
2010There are several options for catalyst preparation after the operating size and form of spent catalysts is altered. Reprocessing of spent catalysts involves de-oiling, decoking, crushing and formatting to operating size and shape of catalyst particles.
