The use of advanced monopropellants based on energetic liquid salts such as hydroxylammonium nitrate (HAN) promises a number of improvements over conventional hydrazine propellant, chief among which are low toxicity, high chemical stability, and increased performance. All of these benefits will significantly decrease overall use costs.
