The impact of ghost fishing on catch rate and composition in the southern Caspian Sea

Marine Pollution Bulletin, 2018
The catch rates and the catch composition of lost nets were investigated during two seasons (fall and winter) in the southern Caspian Sea. A total of 167 surveys were conducted using anchor to retrieve ghost nets, which led to recover a total of 515 ...

Bottom-trawl catch composition in a highly polluted coastal area reveals multifaceted native biodiversity and complex communities of fouling organisms on litter discharge.

Marine Environmental Research, 2020
Areas subjected to anthropogenic impacts are important to test the effect of stressors on local biota. We assessed with trawl net the composition and abundance of megafauna, litter, and litter-fouling communities in the soft bottoms of the National ...

Vascularized Composite Allotransplantation: Alternatives and Catch-22s

Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, 2018
Summary: Technical success has been achieved in several forms of vascularized composite allotransplantation, including hand, face, penis, and lower extremity. However, the risks of lifelong immunosuppression have limited these procedures to a select group of patients for whom nontransplant alternatives have resulted in ...

Catching Even More Offenders with EvoFIT Facial Composites

2012 Third International Conference on Emerging Security Technologies, 2012
Facial composites are an investigative tool used by police to identify suspects of crime. Unfortunately, traditional methods to construct the face have rather low success rates. We have been developing a new recognition-based method called EvoFIT that requires eyewitnesses to select whole faces from arrays of alternatives.

Catching the bad guy: Morphing composite faces helps.

Law and Human Behavior, 2007
Composite faces built by eyewitnesses commonly are poor likenesses of the target face. When there are multiple witnesses, however, an opportunity exists to morph the composites. Morphs were rated as more similar to the target face than were the mean ratings of the individual composites.

Catch composition and effects on fishing area of beam trawl

2005
Araştırmada, sürükleme av araçları grubunda yer alan algarna takımlarının av kompozisyonunun incelenmesi ve bu av takımının balıkçılık ortamında yarattığı etkilerinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. İzmir Körfezi, Gülbahçe açıklarında birer saatlik 14 geçerli av operasyonu sonucu 21 türün yakalandığı tespit edilmiştir.

Protein composition of thick filaments from molluscan catch muscle and the role of twitchin in the catch-state formation

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2019
In the work, we performed densitometry of thick filaments of the Gray's mussel catch muscle; densitometry included determination of electrophoretic dye binding constants of proteins. The results of densitometry showed that the content of twitchin in thick filaments is significantly (10 times) lower than the content of myosin.

Trammel net catch species composition, catch rates and métiers in southern European waters: A multivariate approach

Fisheries Research, 2006
Abstract We identified and quantified the effect of season, depth, and inner and outer panel mesh size on the trammel net catch species composition and catch rates in four southern European areas (Northeast Atlantic: Basque Country, Spain; Algarve, Portugal; Gulf of Cadiz, Spain; Mediterranean: Cyclades, Greece), all of which are characterised by ...
