Primary fishery assessments and status from catch statistics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Primary assessments of fish catch from AR sites are done by ICAR-CMFRI, following a multistage stratified random sampling (MSSRS) technique introduced by the Institute to assess marine fish landings in the maritime states of India (Srinath et al., 2005).

A detailed redescription of a skeletally immature ‘Redondasaurus’ suggests ontogenetic transformations in the taxon mirror phytosaurian morphological evolution

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The study of morphological evolution is fundamentally tied to ontogeny, yet studies of these heterochronic processes in the fossil record are rare. Fossils belonging to an ontogenetic series are difficult to assign to an ontogenetic stage due to inconsistent proxies for skeletal ages, challenging to taxonomically assign due to morphological ...

Study of inland fisheries from Danube Delta - Romania [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Annals of the Danube Delta Institute, 2007
The average commercial fish catch decreased from about 12000 tons (1967 year), in Danube Delta lakes to around 3000 tons in the last years. In this period piscivorous species like pike, wels catfish, european perch declined and the non-piscivorous ...

Timing is everything: Fishing‐season placement may represent the most important angling‐induced evolutionary pressure on Atlantic salmon populations

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, 2017
Fisheries‐induced evolution can change the trajectory of wild fish populations by selectively targeting certain phenotypes. For important fish species like Atlantic salmon, this could have large implications for their conservation and management.

General Aspects of Recreational Angling and Some Estimations on Catch Amounts in Turkey

open access: yesDüzce Üniversitesi Bilim ve Teknoloji Dergisi, 2018
Some simple approaches make easy to see problems that lie at the centre of the phenomenon. Contrary toexpectations of outputs at the decision given may originate from lack of this simple approaches.

Skeletal pathologies in extant crocodilians as a window into the paleopathology of fossil archosaurs

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Crocodilians, together with birds, are the only extant relatives to many extinct archosaur groups, making them highly important for interpreting paleopathological conditions in a phylogenetic disease bracketing model. Despite this, comprehensive data on osteopathologies in crocodilians remain scarce.

Statistical learning with proximity catch digraphs

open access: yes, 2020

Previously undocumented regional variability in crab‐eating macaque skull sexual dimorphism and its implications for biological and morphometric studies

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract In a large sample of adult crab‐eating macaques, we quantified sexual dimorphism in size, shape, and covariance across the whole skull and among anatomical regions of the cranium and mandible. All regions showed significant mean sex differences, but the magnitude of size and shape dimorphism varied substantially.

STOCK ASSESSMENT OF THE CASPIAN SEA IN KUTUM (RUTILUSFRISII KUTUM) IRANIAN COASTAL WATERS OF THE CASPIAN SEA

open access: yes‬‭Majallah-i ̒Ilmī-i Shīlāt-i Īrān, 2006
Caspian Kutum (Rutilusfrisii kutum) is one of the most important commercial bony fishes in Iranian coastal waters of the Caspian Sea that constitute more than 50% of the total annual catch of the bony fishes.

Estimation of Total Catch in Weight and Catch-at-Age in Number of Bluefin Tuna Thunnus orientalis in the Whole Pacific Ocean

open access: yes, 2001
Japanese official statistics do not have a specific species category corresponding to Pacific bluefin tuna Thunnus orientalis, and only have two categories which include Pacific bluefin tuna together with other Thunnus species. The annual catch in weight
