Multifunctional E‐Tattoos Based on Electrospun PVBVA Fibers Coated with Ti3C2Tx MXene for Energy Harvesting, Energy Storage, and Biometric Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study explores a novel E‐tattoo made from PVBVA fibers coated with Ti3C2Tx MXene. The device is designed to harvest energy directly from the human body, providing power for itself. The research demonstrates the E‐tattoo's capability for charge storage and its potential for health monitoring through integrated ECG and EMG sensing, all within a ...

Competition and Quality: Evidence from the NHS Internal Market 1991-1999 [PDF]

open access: yes
Payer-driven competition has been widely advocated as a means of increasing efficiency in health care markets. The 1990s reforms to the UK health service followed this path.

A Novel Method for Defining Health Facility Catchment Areas in a Low Income Country

open access: yesOnline Journal of Public Health Informatics, 2015
The catchment areas of six health-care facilities in Uganda were determined using the cumulative case ratio: the ratio of the observed to expected utilization of a facility for a particular condition by patients from small administrative areas. Our approach is simple, reproducible, and is based on a statistical measure to decide which administrative ...

Parasitic Plant–Host Interactions: Molecular Mechanisms and Agricultural Resistance Strategies

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Parasitic plants devastate global agriculture through sophisticated molecular interactions with host crops. This review synthesizes current understanding of parasitic plant‐host interactions, from strigolactone‐mediated germination and haustorium formation to host defense mechanisms.

Higher‐Level Structural Classification of Pseudomonas Cyclic Lipopeptides through Their Bioactive Conformation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Solution structures of a series of cyclic lipodepsipeptides from Pseudomonas reveal that these specialized metabolites adopt left‐handed alpha helical conformations of only two types, being either ‘stapled’ or ‘catch‐pole’ helix. The particular modular distribution of the biosynthetic gene clusters is found to determine the extent of their conserved ...

Integrating economic values and catchment modelling [PDF]

open access: yes
Integrated catchment policies are widely used to manage natural resources in Australian catchments. Decision support tools available to aid integrated catchment management are often limited in their integration of environmental processes with socio ...

Study of Resistive Switching Dynamics and Memory States Equilibria in Analog Filamentary Conductive‐Metal‐Oxide/HfOx ReRAM via Compact Modeling

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
A physics‐based compact model for Conductive‐Metal‐Oxide/HfOx ReRAM, accounting for ion dynamics, electronic conduction, and thermal effects, is presented. Accurate and versatile simulations of analog non‐volatile conductance modulation and memory state stabilization enable reliable circuit‐level studies, advancing the optimization of neuromorphic and ...

Prediction of Structural Stability of Layered Oxide Cathode Materials: Combination of Machine Learning and Ab Initio Thermodynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, we developed a phase‐stability predictor by combining machine learning and ab initio thermodynamics approaches, and identified the key factors determining the favorable phase for a given composition. Specifically, a lower TM ionic potential, higher Na content, and higher mixing entropy favor the O3 phase.
