Natural Aging of Biomaterials in Ambient and Physiological Environments

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
Biomaterials used in biomedical applications can change their physical properties over time, even under ambient and physiological conditions. This review highlights key studies on the natural aging of materials ranging from soft hydrogels to metals and ceramics, emphasizing how time‐dependent changes influence function and performance.

Modeling Catheter‐Associated Bladder Mucosal Adhesion and Microtrauma Using a Human Urothelial Microtissue Model

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
Intermittent catheter use can damage the urinary tract and predispose to infection. We deployed a complex human urothelial model to investigate. Catheter contact induced compressive and shear stress causing umbrella cell disruption, reduced barrier function, inflammation and increased cell adhesion to the catheter surface.

Safety and Feasibility of Magnetic Separation‐Based Blood Purification

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
We present the preclinical biological safety and translational feasibility of a magnetic nanoparticle‐based extracorporeal blood purification platform for removal of disease‐causing blood factors. ISO 10993‐compliant studies and exaggerated worst‐case exposure models demonstrate efficient nanoparticle extraction (≥99.9%), favorable biocompatibility ...

Comparative histological, histochemical, and histometric evaluation of the esophagus in two avian species with different feeding habits (Ciconia ciconia and Buteo buteo)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Histological structure of esophagus. Abstract The aim of this study was to conduct a comparative evaluation of the histological and histochemical organization of the esophagus in two avian species with different feeding ecologies. A total of 6 individuals were used for this purpose (3 storks, 3 common buzzards).

Accurate Measurement in All‐inside Posterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction: A Technical Note

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, EarlyView.
Abstract With the increasing rate of posterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (PCLr) and growing adoption of the all‐inside PCLr, the existing literature lacks an optimal surgical protocol for this technique. It is well recognized that variations in knee size and intraoperative positioning pose challenges in determining the key parameter—the length ...

Technique for Lateral Opening Wedge Distal Femoral Osteotomy Using Patient‐Specific Instrumentation for Genu Valgum and Patellar Instability

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, EarlyView.
Abstract Recurrent lateral patellar instability poses a technical challenge to orthopaedic surgeons. Isolated soft‐tissue procedures through medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction or lateral release show unacceptably high failure rates. Lateral opening wedge distal femoral osteotomy addresses underlying bony malalignment and reinforces the soft ...

Angiocatheter‐Assisted All‐Inside Repair of Meniscal Ramp Lesions: A Simple and Cost‐Effective Technique

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, EarlyView.
Abstract Ramp lesions of the medial meniscus are frequently associated with anterior cruciate ligament injuries and contribute to persistent instability if untreated. Diagnosis is challenging, and repair techniques often require posteromedial portals or specialized devices.
