Ten Questions of East Asian Tectonics

open access: yesActa Geologica Sinica - English Edition, Volume 99, Issue 2, Page 297-319, April 2025.
Abstract East Asian continental tectonics challenges the plate tectonics paradigm with its diffuse intraplate deformation, magmatism, and earthquakes. Despite extensive studies, fundamental questions persist. This review examines ten critical questions of East Asian tectonics, including the thickness of the continental lithosphere, the origin of the ...

Geochemistry and Geochronology of A‐Type Intermediate‐Felsic Rocks in NW Himalaya, Pakistan: Implications for Petrogenesis and Tectonic Evolution of Northern Gondwana

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 26, Issue 1, January 2025.
Abstract Igneous intrusives in northern Pakistan can provide valuable insights into pre‐Himalayan metaluminous to peraluminous magmatism along the northern boundary of the supercontinent Gondwana and its potential tectonic significance. This study generates new geochronologic, petrographic and geochemical data for intermediate (monzonite, syenite, and ...

Hf isotopes from Palawan Continental Terrane, Philippines-clues to the evolution of sediment sources

open access: yesTerrestrial, Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, 2018
The age spectra of detrital zircons in meta-sediments from Palawan Island, Mindoro Island, Tablas, and the Buruanga Peninsula of Panay Island in the Central Philippines provide evidence for the provenance of these zircons in the northern part of the ...

Three‐Dimensional Crustal Channel Flows Beneath the Southeastern Tibetan Plateau Revealed by Full‐Waveform Ambient Noise Tomography

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 51, Issue 22, 28 November 2024.
Abstract The growth process of the southeastern Tibetan Plateau remains a fundamental yet unresolved question. Knowledge of detailed lithospheric structures and their potential linkages with surface features offers crucial insights. Here, we present a high‐resolution 3‐D lithospheric velocity model of the southeastern Tibetan Plateau using full ...

A database of detrital zircon U–Pb ages and Hf isotope of Precambrian strata in South China

open access: yesGeoscience Data Journal, Volume 11, Issue 4, Page 385-393, October 2024.
This picture mainly shows the research area and research results of this article. The figure above is a tectonic rigidity map of the Precambrian South China block, including the Yangtze and Cathaysia blocks, which are bounded by Jiangshan‐Shaoxing‐Chenzhou‐Qinfang fault and widely distribute Precambrian strata with Archean‐Neoproterozoic.

Active-passive margin transition in the Cathaysia Block : thermochronological and kinematic constraints

open access: yes, 2016
The Cathaysia Block, located in southeastern China, is characterized by a widespread magmatic belt, prominent NE-striking fault zones and numerous rifted basins filled by Cretaceous-Eocene sediments. The geology denotes a transition from an active to a passive margin, which led to rapid modifications of crustal stress configuration and reactivation of ...

A database of detrital zircon geochronology ages of Cambrian to Paleogene deposits in South China

open access: yesGeoscience Data Journal, Volume 11, Issue 4, Page 405-413, October 2024.
Here, we had collect a database about the South China Phanerozoic detrital zircon geochronology data, and we published the database in DDE. We marked Kernel density estimates, ɛHf(t) vs. U‐Pb ages and the best age‐based multidimensional scaling plot from South China. Abstract Complications of detrital zircons databases provide a means for statistically

Study of tidal gravimetric factors in Chinese mainland based on three-dimensional Earth model

open access: yes地球与行星物理论评
Tides are the Earth's response to the gravitational attraction of the Sun, the Moon, and other stars, and tidal gravimetric factors vital for revealing the Earth's interior structure.

A Mid‐Crustal Channel of Positive Radial Anisotropy Beneath the Eastern South China Block From F‐J Multimodal Ambient Noise Tomography

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 51, Issue 18, 28 September 2024.
Abstract We investigated the crustal radial anisotropy in the eastern South China Block (ESCB) with the F‐J multimodal ambient noise tomography. Well corresponding to widespread mid‐crustal low‐velocity zones in the VSV ${V}_{SV}$ model, a pronounced mid‐crustal channel of positive radial anisotropy is revealed.
