Ultrasound-guided subclavian catheterization in pediatric patients with a linear probe: a case series [PDF]

open access: yesKorean Journal of Anesthesiology, 2013
Central venous catheterization (CVC) can be difficult, especially with pediatric patients in critical care. Accessing the subclavian vein (SCV) can cause serious complications, including pneumothorax, arterial puncture, and hemothorax.

Access via the internal jugular vein [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Central venous access via the internal jugular vein (IJV) is safe, relatively easy and very commonly used in infants and children undergoing cardiac surgery for congenital heart disease. Because of the wide range of anatomical variations an ultrasound-

Fast and robust parameter estimation with uncertainty quantification for the cardiac function [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Parameter estimation and uncertainty quantification are crucial in computational cardiology, as they enable the construction of digital twins that faithfully replicate the behavior of physical patients. Robust and efficient mathematical methods must be designed to fit many model parameters starting from a few, possibly non-invasive, noisy observations.

Miniaturized Devices for On‐the‐Spot Generation of Small‐Diameter Vascular Grafts

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
An intracorporeal extrusion device is developed for on‐the‐spot generation of vascular grafts with tunable diameters spanning from 1 to 6 mm. The device uses biomimetic polymers and light, to promptly obtaining biocompatible and high‐burst pressure‐resistant grafts.

Automated Detection and Type Classification of Central Venous Catheters in Chest X-Rays [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Central venous catheters (CVCs) are commonly used in critical care settings for monitoring body functions and administering medications. They are often described in radiology reports by referring to their presence, identity and placement. In this paper, we address the problem of automatic detection of their presence and identity through automated ...

Anisotropic Surface Microrollers for Endovascular Navigation: A Computational Analysis with a Case Study in Hepatic Perfusion

open access: yesAdvanced Theory and Simulations, EarlyView.
Computational fluid dynamics analyses assess the upstream locomotion performance of anisotropic microrollers with varying height‐to‐width ratios. Observing their successful upstream locomotion in veins, their performance in hepatic circulation is investigated for treating primary liver cancer.
