500 Kilovolt Cathode Rays [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review, 1931
The high potential x-ray tube at the California Institute has been modified so as to permit either x-rays or cathode rays to be produced. Electron currents up to 35 microamperes have been obtained through an aluminum window. A typical magnetic velocity spectrum of the high speed electrons passing out of an aluminum window is presented.

Single Atom‐Particle Tandem Catalysis Enables Enhanced Desolvation Kinetics for Low‐Temperature Li‐S Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, the tandem catalyst consisted of single Fe atom and Fe3C nanoparticles on porous carbon sheet is initially proposed and developed to facilitate the dissociation of Li(solvent)x+ to release more isolated Li+ to participate in the subsequent polysulfide redox conversions by decreasing the related barriers, contributing to fast kinetics of ...

Emission of a low-power laser-induced vacuum discharge plasma in the EUV and SXR spectral ranges

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2018
X-ray spectral characteristics of a vacuum discharge plasma with the storage energy lower than 30 J initiated on an Al or a Fe cathode by a 1012 W/cm2 neodymium laser were studied in the 30 – 300 Å wavelength range.

Low‐Surface‐Energy Copper Promotes Atomic Diffusion and Ordering in PtFeCu Intermetallic Compounds for Oxygen Reduction Catalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A copper‐induced atom ordering strategy is developed for the reconstruction of raw commercial Pt catalyst into ordered PtFeCu intermetallic compounds for hydrogen fuel cells. Abstract Carbon‐supported platinum intermetallic compound nanoparticles are seen as the next‐generation cathodic catalysts for hydrogen fuel cells due to their high activity and ...
