Gas micro-well track imaging detectors for gamma-ray astronomy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We describe our program to develop gas micro-well detectors (MWDs) as three-dimensional charged particle trackers for use in advanced gamma-ray telescope concepts.

Biomass Native Structure Into Functional Carbon‐Based Catalysts for Fenton‐Like Reactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study indicates that eight biomasses with 2D flaky and 1D acicular structures influence surface O types, morphology, defects, N doping, sp2 C, and Co nanoparticles loading in three series of carbon, N‐doped carbon, and cobalt/graphitic carbon. This work identifies how these structural factors impact catalytic pathways, enhancing selective electron

Electrochemical Properties of Nanosized Li2MnO3-Li(Ni1/3Co1/3Mn1/3)O2 Composite Cathode Powders Prepared by Spray Pyrolysis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2013
Nanosized 0.6Li2MnO3-0.4Li(Ni1/3Mn1/3Co1/3)O2 composite powders are prepared by spray pyrolysis at high post-treatment temperatures. The optimum concentrations of citric acid and ethylene glycol, selected as the appropriate organic additives to obtain ...

Simplified system displays complex curves corresponding to input data [PDF]

open access: yes, 1969
Cathode ray oscilloscope displays curves or contours of complex shapes corresponding to sets of x,y coordinates. It requires few storage facilities and produces a rapid display of complex curves with a fewer number of commands than previous ...

Producing High Concentrations of Hydrogen in Palladium via Electrochemical Insertion from Aqueous and Solid Electrolytes

open access: yes, 2018
Metal hydrides are critical materials in numerous technologies including hydrogen storage, gas separation, and electrocatalysis. Here, using Pd-H as a model metal hydride, we perform electrochemical insertion studies of hydrogen via liquid and solid ...

CO2 Reduction on Copper‐Nitrogen‐Doped Carbon Catalysts Tuned by Pulsed Potential Electrolysis: Effect of Pulse Potential

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that pulsed potential electrolysis significantly improves CO2 reduction performance on copper‐nitrogen doped carbon electrodes. The formation of cationic copper sites and metallic clusters as a function of applied intermittent potential leads to notable selectivity changes compared to potentiostatic reduction.

Robust CsBr/Cu photocathodes for the linac coherent light source

open access: yesPhysical Review Special Topics. Accelerators and Beams, 2008
The linac coherent light source (LCLS), an x-ray free-electron laser project presently under construction at SLAC, uses a 2.856 GHz rf photocathode gun with a copper cathode for its electron source.

Cryo‐EM of Rationally Designed Photosystem I Nanoassembly on Graphene Validates Orientation‐Driven Enhancement of Photocatalytic Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The first cryo‐EM visualization and quantification of oriented Photosystem I (PSI) on single‐layer graphene is reported. Domain‐specific covalent anchoring of PSI, with the reducing side of the biophotocatalyst toward graphene, promotes three‐fold higher anodic photocurrent generation compared to a randomly physisorbed counterpart. This approach allows
