Cathodic hydrogen charging of Inconel 718

open access: yesAIMS Materials Science, 2016
The nickel based superalloy IN718 is known to be prone to hydrogen sensitivity, causing degradation of its mechanical properties. Therefore, during mechanical testing of hydrogen charged samples, a well-defined hydrogen distribution is essential to better understand the influence of hydrogen on dislocation movement and plasticity behavior.

Effects of Cathodic Hydrogen Charging on the Mechanical Properties and Fracture Behaviour of Wire Arc Additively Manufactured AA2319 [PDF]

open access: yesMetals
The growing adoption of wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) requires an understanding of how WAAM-fabricated aluminium alloys respond to environmental factors that may degrade mechanical performance.

Influence of hydrogen on mechanical properties of pure titanium T40 (grade 2) and TA6V ELI (grade 23): a local approach of fracture [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2020
The effect of hydrogen charging by cathodic polarization on T40 (grade 2) and TA6V ELI (grade 23) in artificial seawater appeared to be dependent on the metallurgical structure of the alloys.

Scanning Kelvin Probe for Detection in Steel of Locations Enriched by Hydrogen and Prone to Cracking

open access: yesCorrosion and Materials Degradation, 2023
Hydrogen, due to corrosion processes, can degrade high strength steels (HSS) through embrittlement and stress corrosion cracking mechanisms. Scanning Kelvin probe (SKP) mapping of surface potential was applied, to visualize the locations with an ...
