Highly oriented hexagonal hydride phase formation in single phase Ti3Al by cathodic charging
A single phase intermetallic compound Ti3Al having DO19 structure (hexagonal) was hydrogenated by cathodic charging. The structure was monitored by X-ray diffraction (XRD) at different charging times.

The effect of cathodic hydrogen-charging current on the effective hydrogen diffusivity in nanostructured bainitic steels produced at transformation temperatures 200 degrees C (BS200) and 350 degrees C (BS350) was investigated and compared to that of mild

Advanced space charge limited field emission cathodes
Review of Scientific Instruments, 2023Several novel field emission cathodes are constructed by attaching a variety of materials to a steel substrate using multiple methods of bonding. These cathodes are tested using a pulsed relativistic (350–550 kV) vircator in a space charge limited operating regime.

Cathodic hydrogen charging of zinc
Corrosion Science, 2014Abstract The effect of cathodic hydrogen charging on the structural and mechanical characteristics of zinc was investigated. Hardening of the surface layers of zinc, due to hydrogen incorporation and possible formation of ZnH2, was observed. In addition, the residual stresses brought about by the incorporation of hydrogen atoms into the metallic ...

Space-Charge Effects Near A Cathode
Proceedings of the 2005 Particle Accelerator Conference, 2006RF photocathode guns are excellent sources of high brightness electron bunches. To mitigate space charge effects downstream of the gun it is often desirable to produce electron bunches with a uniform density distribution. Our goal is to understand how the longitudinal bunch profile is determined by the emission dictated by the laser pulse intensity and

Formative time of the cathodic space charge
Il Nuovo Cimento, 1954The present paper sets forth a criterion for the evaluation of the formative time of the cathodic space charge, beginning with the moment at which the discharge becomes self-standing. Such a criterion is based on two facts to be observed in the study of intermittent discharges with a low-pressure gas: 1) it is possible to note a rise time of the ...

Space Charge Distribution in the Cathode Fall Region of an Ar Hollow Cathode Discharge
Applied Spectroscopy, 1988The electric field above the cathode surface of an Ar hollow cathode discharge has been measured by optogalvanic Stark spectroscopy. The field depends on the radial position of illumination and describes the radial distribution of the space charge density, ρ(r), as ρ(r) = –Ar + B, where r is the radial position and the parameters A and B are positive ...

A Charged-Particle Detector Based on Proportional Tubes with a Segmented Cathode and Cathode Readout
Instruments and Experimental Techniques, 2001A charged-particle detector based on proportional tubes with cathode readout is described. The cathode is sectionalized into 2.2 × 2.2-cm pads. The detector was tested on high-energy particle beams. At an anode-to-cathode distance of 1.1 cm, the spatial resolution was 1.25 mm along the anode wire.
