Operation Limits of Integrated Photo‐Rechargeable Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This study elucidates the operational limitations of integrated photo‐rechargeable batteries. We demonstrate that the photo‐charging process is fundamentally restricted not only by material‐to‐material energy level alignment but also by transient capacitive charge accumulation within the cathode framework.

Fluorinated Deep Eutectic Gel Electrolytes with Simultaneously Enhanced Mechanical Strength and Ionic Conductivity for Solid‐State Lithium Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The synergistic integration of rigid polyacrylamide (PAM) and flexible poly(N,N‐dimethylacrylamide) (PDMA) phases offers exceptional toughness to suppress lithium dendrites, simultaneously enhancing mechanical strength and ionic conductivity. ABSTRACT Gel polymer electrolytes for lithium‐metal batteries face an inherent trade‐off between mechanical ...

Ferrous Pyrophosphate Hollow Nanorods Enable Lithium Metal Batteries Under Low Negative/Positive Capacity Ratios

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
N‐doped carbon‐coated ferrous pyrophosphate (Fe2P2O7@NC) hollow nanorods are rationally synthesized through a self‐template method. The Fe2P2O7@NC hollow nanorods facilitate uniform Li deposition as a Li host by generating LiF on the electrode/electrolyte interface, and form Li2O in the bulk phase of the electrode.

Angstrom‐Scale Confined Ion Sieve and Accelerator for Efficient Aqueous Zinc Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An angstrom‐scale confined ion accelerator strategy is proposed for ultra‐stable aqueous Zn anodes. Selective and precise transport of hydrated Zn(H2O)62+, Zn2+ cations, H2O molecules, and SO42− anions is achieved by in‐plane atomic Ti vacancies and angstrom‐scale interlayer free spacing within the Ti0.87O2 interfacial layer, leading to homogeneous Zn ...

Escaping the Scaling Relationships in Oxygen Reduction Catalysis: Implications for PEM Fuel Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Escaping the scaling relationships of the oxygen reduction reaction is vital for hydrogen fuel cells. This outlook examines how interfacial heterogeneity, spanning the subsurface lattice, chemisorption layer, and near‐interface solvation volume, mechanistically decouples intermediate binding energetics.

Origin of Dark Current Robustness in Photomultiplication Organic Photodetectors Enabled by Ionic Conjugated Electron‐Blocking Layers

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ionic conjugated polyelectrolyte electron‐blocking layers enable photomultiplication organic photodetectors with dark current robustness up to −10 V and external quantum efficiencies exceeding 3000%. Fowler–Nordheim tunneling, interfacial dipole, trap density of states, and noise analyses reveal how ionic conjugated polyelectrolytes suppress electron ...

Gold‐Stabilized Copper Enables Anodic Hydrogen Evolution for Ultralow‐Voltage CO‐to‐Ethylene Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Gold‐stabilized copper suppresses hydroxide‐driven deactivation during anodic hydrogen evolution from furfural. Pairing this low‐potential anode with CO‐to‐ethylene electroreduction enables sub‐1 V operation at 400 mA cm−2, high single‐pass CO conversion, and co‐production of ethylene, furoic acid, and a separate hydrogen stream.

Metal Oxide Nano‐Interface Boosting the Deep Ultraviolet Adjustable Noise‐Filtering In‐Sensor Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We show that sol‐gel‐fractured indium–magnesium oxide combines deep‐ultraviolet responsivity, high carrier mobility, and an excellent memory dynamic range. This unique materials platform enables deep‐ultraviolet long‐afterglow light‐emitting devices with multifunctional integration.
