The cathodic protection potential criteria: Evaluation of the evidence

Materials and Corrosion, 2020
Recent publications have ascribed the mechanism of cathodic protection (CP) in soils to the development of passivity at the steel surface. This view has, in turn, prompted discussion on the need to re‐evaluate the long‐established criteria for protection.

Cathodic protection system

Anti-Corrosion Manual, 1991
The basic aspects and mechanism of corrosion of steel piles in sea water are briefly discussed. The effects of parameters viz. pH, salinity, dissolved oxygen, temperature and wind velocity responsible for the corrosion of steel piles have been presented.

Cathodic protection circuits

Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, Part II: Applications and Industry, 1955
BEFORE discussing the present state of investigation and proposed future considerations of cathodic protection circuitry, it may be profitable to review briefly the problems posed by the observed phenomena of corrosion, in particular the corrosion of metallic surfaces in soils and solutions with which this paper will be primarily concerned.

Significantly enhanced photoelectrochemical cathodic protection performance of hydrogen treated Cr-doped SrTiO3 by Cr6+ reduction and oxygen vacancy modification

Electrochimica Acta, 2019
SrTiO3 is a promising material for the photoelectrochemical (PEC) cathodic protection technology due to its intrinsic band structure. Its disadvantage of light absorption only in the ultraviolet region can be effectively solved by Cr doping.

CATHODIC PROTECTION.

Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers, 1962
A short history of cathodic protection, from the discovery of its operating principle about 1800 and its use by Sir Humphry Davy a few years later, is followed by a description of where and how corrosion of metal occurs, the use of wrapping and of a sand bed around a pipeline, cathodic protection of pipelines, and of steel-piled jetties, appropriate ...

Cathodic protection and cathodic prevention

Construction and Building Materials, 1996
Abstract Developments in cathodic protection for aerial concrete structures are described. The principles on which the technique is based and the various protecting effects induced by the cathodic polarization of reinforcement are illustrated; the differences between the cathodic protection applied to control corrosion rate of chloride contaminated ...
