Evaluation of the Influence of the Substituting Cation on the Structural and Morphological Properties of the New Garnet Sm3−xREExFe5O12 (REE = Dy, Gd and Lu) [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2020
Rare earth garnets (REE3Fe5O12) have magnetic-electric and optical properties that can be used in transmitters, microwave and data storage devices. These properties depend mainly on partial or total substitution of the cationic sites, as well as by the ...

The stepwise oxidation of indolino[2,1-b]oxazolidine derivatives [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This work presents an original strategy to modulate the electrochemical properties of the indolino[2,1-b]oxazolidine core appropriately substituted in position 5 (para-substitution of the phenyl ring) by acceptor or donor groups (CHO, OMe, Me, F, H, Cl ...

Molecular bases of circadian magnesium rhythms across eukaryotes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Circadian rhythms in intracellular [Mg2+] exist across eukaryotic kingdoms. Central roles for Mg2+ in metabolism suggest that Mg2+ rhythms could regulate daily cellular energy and metabolism. In this Perspective paper, we propose that ancestral prokaryotic transport proteins could be responsible for mediating Mg2+ rhythms and posit a feedback model ...

Metal ligand vibrations of [Cd(nh3) 4] (re04]) 2 with 110Cd/116Cd and h/d isotopic substitution

open access: yesSemina: Ciências Exatas e Tecnológicas, 2004
Raman and ir. Spectra of [Cd(nh3) 4] (re04]) 2 with 110Cd/116Cd and h/d isotopic substitution have been obtained. The frequencies and isotopic shift for the framework of the [Cd(nh3) 4] (re04]) + 2 cation complex are reported.

Orbital Reconstruction in a Self-assembled Oxygen Vacancy Nanostructure

open access: yes, 2015
We demonstrate the microscopic role of oxygen vacancies spatially confined within nanometer inter-spacing (about 1 nm) in BiFeO3, using resonant soft X-ray scattering techniques and soft X-ray spectroscopy measurements.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.
