Catullus 63: A 'Hellenistic Poem'?

AbstractThis article gives a survey and analysis of the Hellenistic elements in Catullus 63. After a description of the poem's Hellenistic background it is argued that in this poem Catullus makes a selective, but careful and creative use of Hellenistic elements, with a certain focus on the means of allusion and Kreuzung der Gattungen.
