ABSTRACT High temperatures significantly accelerate the timing of floral transition, namely, bolting and flowering, in lettuce, which results in severe loss of marketable yield. ABSTRACT In this study, we use data from the recent round of the Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys (MICS) conducted between 2021 and 2022 to estimate the effect of son preference on reproductive behavior in Uzbekistan. We find strong evidence for differential stopping and spacing behavior among Uzbek women.

ABSTRACT Using short‐ and long‐term macroeconomic forecasts, we estimate the projected cost of the Russian full‐scale invasion of Ukraine for countries in Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia. Shortly after the invasion, the projected cumulative cost over 6 years stood at $2.44 trillion for the region.
