Cauchy stress in mass distributions
The thermodynamic definition of pressure P = dU/dV is one form of the principle that in a given state, the mass in V and potential are proportional. Subject of this communication is the significance of this principle for the understanding of Cauchy stress.

Another Characteristic Property of the Cauchy Distribution
1. Main result. The purpose of this paper is to prove the theorem and corollary stated in this section. The corollary answers the question raised in Section 3 of [4] to which we also refer the reader for further motivation. THEOREM. Let X be a symmetric r.v., and Xi, i = 1, 2, , r.v.'s independently and identically distributed as X. The two conditions:

Loss Behavior in Supervised Learning With Entangled States
Entanglement in training samples supports quantum supervised learning algorithm in obtaining solutions of low generalization error. Using analytical as well as numerical methods, this work shows that the positive effect of entanglement on model after training has negative consequences for the trainability of the model itself, while showing the ...

ABSTRACT Achieving a simultaneous enhancement of strength and ductility remains a critical bottleneck for the large‐scale and cost‐effective engineering application of magnesium alloys. In this work, guided by first‐principles calculations, we tailored the τ‐Mg32(Al,Zn)49 phase and optimised twin boundary, thereby designing and successfully ...

This study presents scalable methods for fabricating linear arrays of gold nanoparticles using template‐assisted self‐assembly. These supracolloidal structures show strong polarization‐dependent plasmonic responses for biosensing. Using antibody detection for Tumor Necrosis Factor‐Alpha (TNF‐α) as a proof‐of‐concept, the assemblies exhibit up to five ...

A NEW GENERALIZATION OF CAUCHY DISTRIBUTION
A new heavy-tailed distribution is considered in this paper: the p-generalized Cauchy distribution. This new 5-parameter distribution family is substantially more flexible than than the classical Cauchy distribution, it contains, in particular, asymmetric distributions.

In this study, we tested whether white and yellow morphs of the common wall lizard (Podarcis muralis) adopt alternative strategies shaped by the immuno‐competence handicap hypotheses (ICHH). We found that testosterone‐induced immune suppression was stronger in white males, while aggression decreased in both morphs.

Abstract Smallholder market participation studies often focus narrowly on selling decisions, overlooking the institutional role of agricultural cooperatives, particularly in contexts like Rwanda, where cooperatives underpin agricultural policy. Consequently, empirical evidence on how cooperative membership shapes farmers’ commercialization across ...
