Investigating the Supramolecular Assemblies under the Confinement in Hybrid Mesoporous Silica Films

open access: yesSmall Science, EarlyView.
Different molecular environments can be found in hybrid mesoporous silica films. Ureido moieties form supramolecular assemblies via hydrogen bonds, bond with silanols at the pore interface, or remain separated by surfactant molecules. The relative abundance of these environments can be probed by infrared spectroscopy and controlled by molecular design.

Cross‐Scale Study of DP780 Steel: From Crystal Plasticity Modeling to Failure and Formability Prediction

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
A cross‐scale modeling strategy is developed to predict failure and formability of DP780 steel by linking microstructural features with macroscopic behavior. Crystal plasticity and macroscopic damage models are integrated and validated through nanoindentation, in situ bending, and finite element simulations.

Metamodeling of Void Closure during Hot Flat Rolling

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
This work aims to present a fast metamodel for void closure during hot flat rolling. The model takes into account every individual void of void distributions as found in industrial material and is capable of calculating the resulting void closure within only few seconds of computational time without loosing significant accuracy compared to expensive ...

Pseudoconformal Thermal Metamaterials Enabled by Thickness Engineering in a Single Material

open access: yesSmall Structures, EarlyView.
This work presents a geometric approach for thermal manipulation using confocally elliptical core–shell structures. Isotropic medium parameters for regulating the magnitude of the temperature gradient are obtained through pseudoconformal mapping and then approximated in sample fabrication via single‐material thickness engineering, avoiding the need for

Optimal ratio or historical convention: the use of methanol–ethanol mixtures as pressure‐transmitting mediums

open access: yesJournal of Applied Crystallography, EarlyView.
In this combined computational and experimental study, we demonstrate that, despite its widespread use, a methanol–ethanol ratio of 4:1 is not optimal for use as a pressure‐transmitting medium. Consistent with previous reports, we confirm that ethanol primarily serves to delay crystallization.
