A Clarification of the Cauchy Distribution [PDF]
Summary: We define a multivariate Cauchy distribution using a probability density function; subsequently, a Ferguson's definition of a multivariate Cauchy distribution can be viewed as a characterization theorem using the characteristic function approach.

A Novel Goodness-of-Fit Test for Cauchy Distribution
Recently, several goodness-of-fit tests for Cauchy distribution have been introduced based on Kullback–Leibler divergence and likelihood ratio. It is claimed that these tests are more powerful than the well-known goodness-of-fit tests such as Kolmogorov ...

Spherical matrix distributions and cauchy quotients [PDF]
It is shown that matrix quotients of submatrices of a spherical matrix are distributed as matrix Cauchy. This generalizes known results for scalar ratios of independent normal variates. The derivations are simple and make use of the theory of invariant measures on manifolds.

Advanced Cauchy Mutation for Differential Evolution in Numerical Optimization
Among many evolutionary algorithms, differential evolution (DE) has received much attention over the last two decades. DE is a simple yet powerful evolutionary algorithm that has been used successfully to optimize various real-world problems.

Real‐time power dispatch can coordinate wind farms, automatic generation control units and non‐automatic generation control units. In real‐time power dispatch, the probable wind power forecast errors should be appropriately formulated to ensure system ...

A method for generating distributions with an application to Cauchy distribution
There are numerous transformation methods which are in use right now. In this article, the newly proposed model is achieved by using the transformation method known as beta transformation where it does not require more than one additional parameters to ...

Evidence for a normal distribution of normalized gains
Recently Burkholder et al. argued that class normalized gains over the entire population of courses is approximated by a Cauchy distribution, not by a normal distribution, and therefore should not be used to compare different classes because means and ...

Curvature‐tuned auxetic lattices are designed, fabricated, and mechanically characterized to reveal how geometric curvature governs stretchability, stress redistribution, and Poisson's ratio evolution. Photoelastic experiments visualize stress pathways, while hyperelastic simulations quantify deformation mechanics.

Novel ferrocene derivatives (e.g., FcPhc2) are used as an ultrathin layer hole‐blocking layer, reducing hole injection from the Ag contact. This results in an ultralow noise spectral density of 1.2 × 10−14 A Hz−1/2, and a high specific detectivity of 8.1 × 1012 Jones at −0.5 V.
