Asymptotic behaviour of non-isotropic random walks with heavy tails

open access: yesModern Stochastics: Theory and Applications, 2017
A random flight on a plane with non-isotropic displacements at the moments of direction changes is considered. In the case of exponentially distributed flight lengths a Gaussian limit theorem is proved for the position of a particle in the scheme of ...

Lévy Flights Diffusion with Drift in Heterogeneous Membranes

open access: yesMembranes, 2023
The modelling of diffusion in membranes is essential to understanding transport processes through membranes, especially when it comes to improving process efficiency. The purpose of this study is to understand the relationship between membrane structures,

High Entropy Wide‐Bandgap Borates with Broadband Luminescence and Large Nonlinear Optical properties

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
High‐entropy rare‐earth borates exhibit excellent nonlinear optical and broadband luminescence properties arising from multi‐component doping, chemical disorder, increased configurational entropy, and increased lattice and electronic anharmonicity. This formulation enabled us to obtain a large, environmentally stable single crystal with 3X higher laser‐

Solution of the problem of gradient thermoelasticity for a coated strip

open access: yesУчёные записки Казанского университета: Серия Физико-математические науки, 2021
The formulation of a one-parameter problem of gradient thermoelasticity for the “thermal protective coating – substrate” system which is modeled by a composite strip is presented.

Compression‐Tension‐Asymmetry and Stiffness Nonlinearity of Collagen‐Matrigel Composite Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Self‐assembled collagen hydrogel matrices are widely used in tissue engineering applications. These matrices stiffen and contract laterally under tension due to fiber alignment and soften and collapse under compression due to fiber buckling. It is demonstrated that filler materials, such as Matrigel, linearize the mechanical behavior of collagen ...

Nonlocal Conduction in a Metawire

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 37, Issue 13, April 2, 2025.
A 1D metawire composed of twisted copper wires is designed and realized. This metamaterial exhibits pronounced effects of nonlocal electric conduction according to Ohm's law. The current at one location not only depends on the electric field at that location but also on other locations.

On moment convergence of sample quantiles with application to parameter estimations for Cauchy distribution

open access: yesAIMS Mathematics
Under a general condition on continuous probability distributions of some populations, this study establishes that the distributional convergence of sample quantiles implies moment convergence.

A Modified BRDF Model Based on Cauchy-Lorentz Distribution Theory for Metal and Coating Materials

open access: yesPhotonics, 2023
This paper presents a modified Bidirectional Reflectance Distribution Function (BRDF) model based on the Cauchy–Lorentz distribution that accurately characterizes the reflected energy distribution of typical materials, such as metals and coatings in ...

Mixed‐Metal Promotion in a Manganese‐Molybdenum Oxynitride as Catalyst to Integrate C─C and C─N Coupling Reactions for the Direct Synthesis of Acetonitrile from Syngas and Ammonia

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Transition metal oxy/carbo‐nitrides show great promise as catalysts for sustainable processes. A Mn‐Mo mixed‐metal oxynitride attains remarkable performance for the direct synthesis of acetonitrile, an important commodity chemical, via sequential C─N and C─C coupling from syngas (C1) and ammonia (N1) feedstocks.

On the Skew-Normal-Cauchy Distribution

open access: yesCommunications in Statistics - Theory and Methods, 2010
In this article, we study further properties of a skew normal distribution, called the skew-normal-Cauchy (SNC) distribution by Nadarajah and Kotz (2003). A stochastic representation is obtained which allows alternative derivations for moments, moments generating function, and skewness and kurtosis coefficients.
