Cauchy problem for the Kuznetsov equation [PDF]

open access: yesDiscrete & Continuous Dynamical Systems - A, 2017
We consider the Cauchy problem for a model of non-linear acoustics, named the Kuznetsov equation, describing sound propagation in thermo-viscous elastic media.

On the stability of the orthogonal Pexiderized Cauchy equation [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, 2004
We investigate the stability of Pexiderized mappings in Banach modules over a unital Banach algebra. As a consequence, we establish the Hyers--Ulam stability of the orthogonal Cauchy functional equation of Pexider type $f_1(x+y)=f_2(x)+f_3(y)$, $x\perp y$ in which $\perp$ is the orthogonality in the sense of Ratz.

Practical challenges in data‐driven interpolation: Dealing with noise, enforcing stability, and computing realizations

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView., 2023
Summary In this contribution, we propose a detailed study of interpolation‐based data‐driven methods that are of relevance in the model reduction and also in the systems and control communities. The data are given by samples of the transfer function of the underlying (unknown) model, that is, we analyze frequency‐response data.

The Cauchy Functional Equations in Distributions [PDF]

open access: bronzeProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1989
The Pompeiu functional equation is defined by Neagu for Schwartz distributions. His method is extended to the four Cauchy functional equations by means of two new operators Q ∗ {Q^*} and R ∗ {R^*} on D

The Cauchy problem for the Pavlov equation [PDF]

open access: yesNonlinearity, 2015
Commutation of multidimensional vector fields leads to integrable nonlinear dispersionless PDEs arising in various problems of mathematical physics and intensively studied in the recent literature. This report is aiming to solve the scattering and inverse scattering problem for integrable dispersionless PDEs, recently introduced just at a formal level,

A Semi-Linear Backward Parabolic cauchy Problem with Unbounded Coefficients of Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman Type and Applications to optimal control [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We obtain weighted uniform estimates for the gradient of the solutions to a class of linear parabolic Cauchy problems with unbounded coefficients. Such estimates are then used to prove existence and uniqueness of the mild solution to a semi-linear ...

On Cauchy’s functional equation [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1965
for real-valued functions of a real variable. P. Erdos [2] asked, after learning about a preliminary result of S. Hartman [3], whether one obtains all functions satisfying (C) for almost all pairs (x, y) by simply redefining the functions satisfying (C) for all (x, y) in an arbitrary manner on sets of measure zero.

Wave polynomials, transmutations and Cauchy's problem for the Klein-Gordon equation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We prove a completeness result for a class of polynomial solutions of the wave equation called wave polynomials and construct generalized wave polynomials, solutions of the Klein-Gordon equation with a variable coefficient.

Estimates for the Cauchy matrix of perturbed linear impulsive equation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 1994
Estimates for the Cauchy matrix of a perturbed linear impulsive equation are obtained for given estimates for the Cauchy matrix of the corresponding unperturbed linear impulsive equation.

The Cauchy Problem for the Einstein Equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Various aspects of the Cauchy problem for the Einstein equations are surveyed, with the emphasis on local solutions of the evolution equations. Particular attention is payed to giving a clear explanation of conceptual issues which arise in this context.
