Asymptotic properties of cross‐classified sampling designs

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Statistics, EarlyView.
Abstract We investigate the family of cross‐classified sampling designs across an arbitrary number of dimensions. We introduce a variance decomposition that enables the derivation of general asymptotic properties for these designs and the development of straightforward and asymptotically unbiased variance estimators.

Cauchy formula for vector-valued holomorphic functions and the Cauchy-Kovalevskaja theorem

open access: yesAnalysis and Geometry in Metric Spaces
We establish a version of the Cauchy integral formula for holomorphic functions on a polidisc, with values in a complex Fréchet space X{\mathfrak{X}}. We prove a vector-valued analog to Weierstrass’s theorem on sequences of holomorphic functions fν∈O(Ω,X)

Grenander functionals and Cauchy's formula [PDF]

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Statistics, 2020
AbstractLet be the nonparametric maximum likelihood estimator of a decreasing density. Grenander characterized this as the left‐continuous slope of the least concave majorant of the empirical distribution function. For a sample from the uniform distribution, the asymptotic distribution of the L2‐distance of the Grenander estimator to the uniform ...

Degree theory for 4‐dimensional asymptotically conical gradient expanding solitons

open access: yesCommunications on Pure and Applied Mathematics, EarlyView.
Abstract We develop a new degree theory for 4‐dimensional, asymptotically conical gradient expanding solitons. Our theory implies the existence of gradient expanding solitons that are asymptotic to any given cone over S3$S^3$ with non‐negative scalar curvature. We also obtain a similar existence result for cones whose link is diffeomorphic to S3/Γ$S^3/\

A Spectral Regularization Method for a Cauchy Problem of the Modified Helmholtz Equation

open access: yesBoundary Value Problems, 2010
We consider the Cauchy problem for a modified Helmholtz equation, where the Cauchy data is given at and the solution is sought in the interval . A spectral method together with choice of regularization parameter is presented and error estimate is ...

Integral Representation of the Solutions for Neutral Linear Fractional System with Distributed Delays

open access: yesFractal and Fractional, 2021
In the present paper, first we obtain sufficient conditions for the existence and uniqueness of the solution of the Cauchy problem for an inhomogeneous neutral linear fractional differential system with distributed delays (even in the neutral part) and ...

Study on fracture parameter calibration and failure characteristics of rock with hole and crack

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
The SIF and plastic zone equations for a single hole and crack have been derived. The model's failure state leads to the identification of four types of cracks. The plastic zone increases with increased brittleness and decreased crack length. Abstract Cracks within the surrounding rock of roadways significantly affect their stability and failure ...

ON CAUCHY PROBLEM SOLUTION FOR A HARMONIC FUNCTION IN A SIMPLY CONNECTED DOMAIN

open access: yesПроблемы анализа, 2023
Here we present an investigation of the Cauchy problem solvability for the Laplace equation in a simply connected plane domain. The investigation is reduced to solution of two singular integral equations.

Advection‐Pressure Splitting Schemes Applied to a Non‐Conservative 1D Blood Flow Model With Transport for Arteries and Veins

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Fluids, EarlyView.
We introduce new efficient and accurate first order finite volume‐type numerical schemes, for the non‐conservative one‐dimensional blood flow equations with transport, taking into account different velocity profiles. The framework is the flux‐vector splitting approach of Toro and Vázquez‐Cendón (2012), that splits the system in two subsystems of PDEs ...
