Abstract Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar L.) populations in Scotland are subject to active management and conservation practices which require biological reference points (BRPs), specifically conservation limits, defined at the level of the stock. Acquiring the data necessary to independently derive these BRPs for all managed populations in Scotland is ...

Effects of motor and cognitive‐motor training on cognitive performance in healthy older adults
Abstract With a rapidly aging global population, identifying effective strategies to preserve cognitive health and functional independence is increasingly important. This study investigated the effects of motor and combined cognitive‐motor training on cognitive performance and well‐being in healthy older adults against a control condition. Participants

The solution of the Binet-Cauchy functional equation for square matrices
It is shown that if ƒ : Mn(K)→K is a nonconstant solution of the Binet-Cauchy functional equation ƒ(AB) = 1n! ∑|s|=n nsƒ(As)ƒ(Bs) for A, B ∈ Mn(K) and if ƒ(E) = 0 where E is the n × n matrix with all entries 1n then ƒ is given by ƒ(A) = m(det A) where m ...

A Conditional Tail Expectation Type Risk Measure for Time Series
ABSTRACT We consider the estimation of the conditional expectation 𝔼(Xh|X0>UX(1/p)), provided 𝔼|X0|<∞, at extreme levels, where (Xt)t∈ℤ$$ {\left({X}_t\right)}_{t\in \mathbb{Z}} $$ is a strictly stationary time series, UX$$ {U}_X $$ its tail quantile function, h$$ h $$ is a positive integer and p∈(0,1)$$ p\in \left(0,1\right) $$ is such that p→0$$ p\to ...

Homomorphisms from functional equations: the Goldie equation
The theory of regular variation, in its Karamata and Bojani´c-Karamata/de Haan forms, is long established and makes essential use of the Cauchy functional equation. Both forms are subsumed within the recent theory of Beurling regular variation, developed

Robust CDF‐Filtering of a Location Parameter
ABSTRACT This paper introduces a novel framework for designing robust filters associated with signal plus noise models having symmetric observation density. The filters are obtained by a recursion where the innovation term is a transform of the cumulative distribution function of the residuals.

Sequential Outlier Detection in Nonstationary Time Series
ABSTRACT A novel method for sequential outlier detection in nonstationary time series is proposed. The method tests the null hypothesis of “no outlier” at each time point, addressing the multiple testing problem by bounding the error probability of successive tests, using extreme‐value theory. The asymptotic properties of the test statistic are studied

Empirical‐Process Limit Theory and Filter Approximation Bounds for Score‐Driven Time Series Models
ABSTRACT This article examines the filtering and approximation‐theoretic properties of score‐driven time series models. Under specific Lipschitz‐type and tail conditions, new results are derived, leading to maximal and deviation inequalities for the filtering approximation error using empirical process theory.

On a General Functional Equation
In this paper, we deal with a general functional equation in several variables. We prove the hyperstability of this equation in (m + 1)-normed spaces and describe its general solution in some special cases.
