Self‐Similar Blowup for the Cubic Schrödinger Equation

open access: yesCommunications on Pure and Applied Mathematics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We give a rigorous proof for the existence of a finite‐energy, self‐similar solution to the focusing cubic Schrödinger equation in three spatial dimensions. The proof is computer‐assisted and relies on a fixed point argument that shows the existence of a solution in the vicinity of a numerically constructed approximation.

A method for solving ill-posed Robin-Cauchy problems for second-order elliptic equations in multi-dimensional cylindrical domains

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2016
In this article we consider the Robin-Cauchy problem for multidimensional elliptic equations in a cylindrical domain. The method of spectral expansion in eigenfunctions of the Robin-Cauchy problem for equations with deviating argument establishes a ...

Uniformizable Cauchy spaces

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 1982
A family C of filters on a set X is uniformizable if there is a uniformity on X such that C is its collection of Cauchy filters. Using the theory of completions and Cauchy continuous maps for Cauchy spaces, we obtain characterizations of uniformizable ...

The Benjamin–Ono Equation in the Zero‐Dispersion Limit for Rational Initial Data: Generation of Dispersive Shock Waves

open access: yesCommunications on Pure and Applied Mathematics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The leading‐order asymptotic behavior of the solution of the Cauchy initial‐value problem for the Benjamin–Ono equation in L2(R)$L^2(\mathbb {R})$ is obtained explicitly for generic rational initial data u0$u_0$. An explicit asymptotic wave profile uZD(t,x;ε)$u^\mathrm{ZD}(t,x;\epsilon)$ is given, in terms of the branches of the multivalued ...

Front Propagation Through a Perforated Wall

open access: yesCommunications on Pure and Applied Mathematics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We consider a bistable reaction– diffusion equation ut=Δu+f(u)$u_t=\Delta u +f(u)$ on RN${\mathbb {R}}^N$ in the presence of an obstacle K$K$, which is a wall of infinite span with many holes. More precisely, K$K$ is a closed subset of RN${\mathbb {R}}^N$ with smooth boundary such that its projection onto the x1$x_1$‐axis is bounded and that ...

Study on fracture parameter calibration and failure characteristics of rock with hole and crack

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
The SIF and plastic zone equations for a single hole and crack have been derived. The model's failure state leads to the identification of four types of cracks. The plastic zone increases with increased brittleness and decreased crack length. Abstract Cracks within the surrounding rock of roadways significantly affect their stability and failure ...

Modeling and Power Regulation Strategy of Variable‐Speed Pumped Storage Unit With Full‐Size Converter in Pump Mode

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
A numerical model of variable‐speed pumped storage unit (VSPSU) with full‐size converter (FSC) under fast speed control strategy is established. Additionally, the correctness of the model was validated by comparing with SIMSEN simulation results and text prototype data from NARI.

The Cauchy problem for singularly perturbed higher-order integro-differential equations

open access: yesВестник КазНУ. Серия математика, механика, информатика, 2019
The article is devoted to research the Cauchy problem for singularly perturbed higher-order linear integro-differential equation with a small parameter at the highest derivatives, provided that the roots of additional characteristic equation have ...

Coupled Fluid–Structure–Acoustic Analysis of Flow‐Induced Noise Control Using an Elastic Baffle in a Micro Channel

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
This research explores how fluid flow, structural movement, and sound interact in an elastic baffle system. Using a numerical approach based on the finite element method, the study analyzes how noise and vibrations change with different baffle configurations. The findings reveal that shortening the baffle by half reduces noise transmission by 9%, while

Existence and uniqueness theorem of associated solutions of the stochastic differential system with measures

open access: yesЖурнал Белорусского государственного университета: Математика, информатика, 2018
The Cauchy problem for stochastic differential system with measures is considered in the paper. Finite-difference with averaging system of stochastic differential equations with correspondence to Cauchy problem is investigated.
