Dialectics of “Satanic technologies” through the lens of Mountain of Fire and Miracles ministry, Nigeria

open access: yesCogent Arts & Humanities
Pentecostalism in Africa, particularly in Nigeria, has brought a new chapter in the history of Christianity. However, one of the conspicuous peculiarities of the kind of Pentecostalism that has emerged, especially in Nigeria, is the spiritual warfare and

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Causative constructions in Japanese and Slovene

open access: yes, 2006
Whereas Japanese has a productive causative morpheme -( s)ase- that is added to a non-causative verb to derive a causative verb, Slovene has no such single morpheme that may be considered to directly correspond with the Japanese morpheme.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Analytical discussion of causative constructions

open access: yes, 2016
Lamkang causative constructions discussed by Shobhana Chelliah and Sumshot Khular. From this recording one can learn about noun marking in causative constructions as well as the type of verb that takes the causative and the position of directional ...

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Causative Mutations and Mechanism of Androgenetic Hydatidiform Moles.

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Human Genetics, 2018
Androgenetic complete hydatidiform moles are human pregnancies with no embryos and affect 1 in every 1,400 pregnancies. They have mostly androgenetic monospermic genomes with all the chromosomes originating from a haploid sperm and no maternal ...

Causative Expressions in Japanese

open access: yes, 2011
application/pdfThe causative expression is thought to be one of the most difficult grammatical items for elementary and intermediate learners. The aim of this paper is to research on the causative expressions in scripts for films in terms of whether they

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.
