High‐Fidelity In Vitro Packaging of Diverse Synthetic Cargo into Encapsulin Protein Cages

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Pack n’ Play. A novel in vitro assembly system for encapsulin protein cages has been developed. Using a bulky fusion partner to prevent shell assembly in cellulo, high‐fidelity assembly is triggered in vitro by proteolytic cleavage yielding robust particles with superior thermostability.

Biomimetic Localized Gel Electrolyte for Practical Zinc Anode

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
This study introduces a biomimetic antifreeze protein localized gel electrolyte (ALGE), which combines electrolyte modification and interface optimization to tackle the challenges of zinc batteries. ALGE suppresses hydrogen evolution and promotes uniform zinc deposition, enabling excellent cycling performance in both symmetric cells and pouch cells ...

Integrative Lattice and Surface Engineering of Nanoscale Fe0 for Superior Dechlorination of Trichloroethene in Groundwater: Coordination in Reactivity, Selectivity, and Stability

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A lattice and surface engineering strategy was employed to synthesize a novel core‐shell nanomaterial for superior reductive dechlorination of trichloroethene. In this design, FeNi serves as the core and FeS as the shell. Core composition and shell properties interactively determine materials’ performance, and the optimal material exhibited 242.7‐fold ...

Structures of Polyhydroxyalkanoate Synthase PhaC from Aeromonas caviae, Producing Biodegradable Plastics

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
PHA synthase (PhaC) is the key enzyme in the polymerization of a biodegradable plastic—polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA). Structures of full‐length PhaC reveal three key regions essential for substrate specificity and polymerization. Additionally, this study also highlights the critical role of N‐domain‐dependent dimerization in PhaC activity.
