Pituitary Adenoma with Cavernous Sinus Involvement

1991
During the past few years, because of a better understanding of the anatomy of the sellar and parasellar regions and of the cavernous sinus, it has been possible to develop a series of microsurgical techniques that allow access to vascular and tumor lesions involving the anteromedial region of the skull base.

Gamma Knife Radiosurgery for Tumors Involving the Cavernous Sinus

Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery, 2005
Objective: To study the features of diagnosis and radiosurgery of tumors involving the cavernous sinus. Methods: From December 1994 to the end of 2000, 175 patients with cavernous sinus lesions were treated by Leksell gamma knife (GK) in our Institute. Ninety patients (51.4%) had had open surgery previously.

Lymphoma with bilateral cavernous sinus involvement in early childhood

Pediatric Neurology, 1994
A 4-year-old girl developed complete ophthalmoplegia with intact pupillary responses. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging demonstrated a mass invading the cavernous and sphenoid sinuses and posterior ethmoidal cells. Biopsy revealed non-Hodgkin lymphoma. This patient is the youngest reported with malignant lymphoma of the cavernous sinus

Surgical Management of Nasopharyngeal Angiofibroma Involving the Cavernous Sinus

Archives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 1989
Involvement of the cavernous sinus by juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma represents a therapeutic challenge. We present our experience over the past 5 years with the surgical management of six cases of juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma involving this site.

Transsphenoidal approach to infrasellar tumors involving the cavernous sinus

Journal of Neurosurgery, 1990
✓ The authors review their 2-year experience with a rhinoseptal transsphenoidal approach to skull-base tumors of various pathologies involving both the sphenoid and cavernous sinuses. Eight patients with cranial nerve palsies attributable to compression of the contents of the cavernous sinus and/or optic canal are included in this report.

The extradural approach to lesions involving the cavernous sinus

British Journal of Neurosurgery, 1997
We report our experience with five lesions exclusively involving the entire cavernous sinus in which an essentially extradural surgical approach was used. There were two cases of cavernous haemangioma, two cases of meningioma and one case of fungal granuloma. The dural cover of the superior orbital fissure, and mandibular and maxillary divisions of the

Paraneoplastic Dermatomyositis Related to a Chondrosarcoma Involving the Cavernous Sinus

Journal of Neuro-Ophthalmology, 2013
Abstract: Approximately one third of all cases of dermatomyositis may be associated with malignancy. We describe a patient with unexplained rash, joint pain, and muscle weakness, who subsequently developed a cavernous sinus syndrome due to a central nervous system chondrosarcoma. Discovery of this tumor and further dermatologic

Experience in surgical management of tumours involving the cavernous sinus

Journal of Clinical Neuroscience, 2000
Potential injury to the neurovascular structures within the cavernous sinus often prohibits aggressive removal of tumours involving it, however, fully understanding the anatomy and selecting an appropriate surgical approach can often resolve this problem with acceptable morbidity. Moreover, a tumour may originate from different anatomical structures of

Intensive chemotherapy failure in Burkitt’s lymphoma with cavernous sinus involvement

Medical Oncology, 2009
Burkitt's lymphoma is an aggressive B-cell lymphoma with rapid proliferative index, which makes it disseminate easily to distal sites, especially to bone marrow and the central nerve system. We report here a 22-year-old woman with Burkitt's lymphoma involving multiple organs, including kidneys, breasts, left ovary, and bone marrow at the time of ...
