SEPTIC THROMBOSIS OF THE CAVERNOUS SINUS
Journal of the American Medical Association, 1960The rare disease entity, septic thrombosis of the cavernous sinus, still occurs occasionally. The physician should be aware of this fact when treating minor infections of the nasal-orbital areas. A case report is presented below, which shows the response of a patient with this disease to vigorous antibiotic therapy.

With the present broad use of sulphamides and antibiotics the incidence of septic thrombosis of the cavernous sinus has decreased considerably.
