Results of monitoring of bat winter roosts in the Silesian Beskids and Żywiec Beskids (Western Carpathians, Poland)

open access: yesTheriologia Ukrainica
We presents the results of bat monitoring conducted between 2012 and 2025 in the Silesian Beskids and Żywiec Beskids. The research aimed to monitor known bat hibernation sites, discover new ones and analyse trends among the most numerous species of ...

Relative intensity squeezing by four-wave mixing with loss: an analytic model and experimental diagnostic

open access: yes, 2011
Four-wave mixing near resonance in an atomic vapor can produce relative intensity squeezed light suitable for precision measurements beyond the shot-noise limit. We develop an analytic distributed gain/loss model to describe the competition of mixing and

Fluoride‐Free Adhesives for Low Surface Energy Fluorinated Substrates

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A universal, fluoride‐free adhesive achieves a record 4.91 MPa bond strength on PTFE by leveraging amine/amide dipole–dipole interactions, without fluorinated components. This sustainable strategy overcomes the environmental and performance limits of PFAS‐based adhesives, enabling robust, eco‐conscious bonding across diverse materials.

Dual‐Layer Living Hydrogel Enables On‐Demand Delivery of Phages and Probiotics for Synergistic Wound Infection Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A dual‐layer living hydrogel, ProΦGel, integrates bacteriophages and probiotics for synergistic wound infection therapy. The outer gelatin‐based matrix releases phages on demand in response to P. aeruginosa infections, while inner alginate beads sustain probiotic delivery.

Novel Functional Materials via 3D Printing by Vat Photopolymerization

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This Perspective systematically analyzes strategies for incorporating functionalities into 3D‐printed materials via Vat Photopolymerization (VP). It explores the spectrum of achievable functionalities in recently reported novel materials—such as conductive, energy‐storing, biodegradable, stimuli‐responsive, self‐healing, shape‐memory, biomaterials, and

Evading Quantum Mechanics: Engineering a Classical Subsystem within a Quantum Environment

open access: yesPhysical Review X, 2012
Quantum mechanics is potentially advantageous for certain information-processing tasks, but its probabilistic nature and requirement of measurement backaction often limit the precision of conventional classical information-processing devices, such as ...

Particle-Number-Conserving Bogoliubov Approximation for Bose-Einstein Condensates Using Extended Catalytic States [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We encode the many-body wavefunction of a Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) in the $N$-particle sector of an extended catalytic state. This catalytic state is a coherent state for the condensate mode and an arbitrary state for the modes orthogonal to the ...
