Scaling of internal joint distance in the elbow of small‐ to medium‐sized mammals: Implications for range of motion analyses

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
We investigated the internal joint distances (IJDs) of the humero‐ulnar and humero‐radial joint, within a sample of 15 small‐ to medium‐sized mammals and report isometric results. We also found that joint poses had no effect on IJDs and that IJDs scale isometrically within small species.

The way wear goes: phytolith-based wear on the dentine–enamel system in guinea pigs (Cavia porcellus)

open access: yesProceedings of the Royal Society B, 2019
The effect of phytoliths on tooth wear and function has been contested in studies of animal–plant interactions. For herbivores whose occlusal chewing surface consists of enamel ridges and dentine tissue, the phytoliths might particularly erode the softer
