Cavitating Jet Apparatus for Cavitation Erosion Testing

1979
A submerged cavitating jet is used to erode a specimen placed in its path. The erosion depends primarily on the jet velocity, the downstream pressure, and the standoff distance of the specimen. An apparatus for erosion testing based on this principle is described. Results are presented showing the effect of these parameters on erosion.

Simulation for the influence of structure parameters on cavitation jet

2017 IEEE International Conference on Information and Automation (ICIA), 2017
Cavitation nozzle is the core component of cavitation generator. It promotes cavitation by its internal special structure, producing bubble and improving the impact force of jet. The structural characteristics directly affect the quality of the cavitation jet. Therefore, the study of internal structure of nozzle is helpful to improve the performance of

Jet-Fuel Cavitation in a Converging-Diverging Nozzle

45th AIAA Aerospace Sciences Meeting and Exhibit, 2007
The focus of this research proposal is the experimental characterization of fuel cavitation in flow through a converging-diverging nozzle. Cavitation of fuel presents additional complexities (as compared to that in water) because fuel is a multi-component mixture.

Jet Impact and Cavitation Damage

Journal of Basic Engineering, 1968
On the basis of presently known erosion theories, an analogy is made between jet impact and cavitation erosion, and confirmed by experiments. As a consequence of this analogy, data on jet impact experiments are used to explain some peculiar aspects of cavitation damage.

Sheet Cavitation and Cloud Cavitation, Re-Entrant Jet and Three-Dimensionality

1998
The unsteady behaviour of a sheet cavity on a hydrofoil under stationary conditions is important with respect to both noise generation and erosion. Observations of two-dimensional as well as three-dimensional cavities are performed. From the observation it is concluded that the formation of a re-entrant jet is of major importance to explain the ...

Frequency in Shedding/Discharging Cavitation Clouds Determined by Visualization of a Submerged Cavitating Jet

Journal of Fluids Engineering, 2008
Visualization of a highly submerged cavitating water jet was done by high-speed camera photography in order to study and understand the jet structure and the behavior of cloud cavitation within time and space. The influencing parameters, such as injection pressure, nozzle diameter and geometry, and nozzle direction (convergent and divergent), were ...
