Experimental Study of Supercavitation Bubble Development over Bodies in a Free-Surface Flow

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2022
This research conducts experimental studies on supercavitation bubble development and characteristics within free-surface water and the role of cavitator, comparing the results to those of similar experiments carried on in a duct flow.

Experimental Characterization and Constitutive Modeling of the Effect of Prior Inelastic Strain on the Viscoplastic Behavior of AD730 at 700 °C

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study shows that superalloys used in aircraft engine disks become much more prone to deformation at high temperatures if they have been strained during manufacturing. This effect increases with the level of prior strain but eventually reaches a limit.

Feasibility of Nitrogen as a Carrier Gas for Inconel Cold Spray in Hydropower Application

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
N2, despite being nearly two orders of magnitude cheaper than He, is a feasible carrier gas for cold spray Inconel coatings in hydropower repair applications when higher gas temperature and pressure are used. Reducing powder size significantly improved cavitation resistance, while the addition of fine chromium carbide particles further enhanced erosion

Study and analysis of the cavitating and non-cavitating jets - Part two: Parameters controlling the jet action and a new formula for cavitation number calculation

open access: yesThermal Science, 2020
This part of the paper presents the relation between the working conditions, nozzle geometry, nozzle diameter, and jet behavior. Experimental work has been made by impinging the submerged jets on the copper specimen as a target for a period of time. The mass loss and erosion rate at various conditions were measured, calculated and analyzed.

Mechanical Behavior and Fracture Mechanisms of MXene/PVDF Nanocomponsites: In Situ Characterization and Multiscale Analysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Multiscale experiments and modeling reveal how Ti3C2Tx MXene nanosheets reinforce PVDF nanocomposites. An optimal MXene loading (∼1 wt.%) nearly doubles tensile strength through efficient stress transfer, flake alignment, and crack‐deflection mechanisms, transforming ductile polymer behavior into a controlled multi‐stage fracture pathway which aligns ...

A numerical model for cloud cavitation based on bubble cluster

open access: yesTheoretical and Applied Mechanics Letters, 2017
The cavitation cloud of different internal structures results in different collapse pressures owing to the interaction among bubbles. The internal structure of cloud cavitation is required to accurately predict collapse pressure.

Asymptotics of slow motions of a rectangular cylinder in a liquid after a separation impact

open access: yesУчёные записки Казанского университета: Серия Физико-математические науки, 2020
The process of collapse of a cavern, which is formed following the separation impact produced by a rectangular cylinder in an ideal, incompressible, and heavy liquid, was studied.

Study on Noise Attenuation Characteristics of Hydrofoil with Specific Cavitation Number

open access: yesArchives of Acoustics, 2023
In this study, the modified Sauer cavitation model and Kirchhoff-Ffowcs Williams and Hawkings (K-FWH) acoustic model were adopted to numerically simulate the unsteady cavitation flow field and the noise of a three-dimensional NACA66 hydrofoil at a ...

Mechanoluminescent HOF Nanotransducers Enabled Sono‐Optogenetics in Parkinsonian Rats

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We present a mechanoluminescent system utilizing porous hydrogen‐bonded organic frameworks (HOFs) as a toolkit for focused ultrasound‐triggered, non‐invasive light delivery to the deep brain in rats. This approach enables the specific activation of PV‐GPe neurons in dopamine‐depleted Parkinson's disease rat models, resulting in a comparable alleviation

Influence of Thermodynamic Effect on Blade Load in a Cavitating Inducer

open access: yesInternational Journal of Rotating Machinery, 2010
Distribution of the blade load is one of the design parameters for a cavitating inducer. For experimental investigation of the thermodynamic effect on the blade load, we conducted experiments in both cold water and liquid nitrogen.
